While sometimes harsh weather can cause hiccups in golf tournaments, the cold winds at the 2024 AIG Women’s Open are onto something else altogether. For instance, a lot of golfers, including Linn Grant, are redefining their fashion statements.
So, during the third round at the Old Course, St. Andrews, Grant was seen rocking a white pair of earmuffs with a very protective high top. And can you blame her? The temperatures at St. Andrews have shown a significant drop, and the chilly winds are alone enough to cut through bones. The 2024 AIG Women’s Open is experiencing harsh weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from 10°C (50°F) to 17°C (63°F). Gusty winds are adding to the challenge, with speeds of 6–11 mph and gusts up to 28 mph, according to AIG’s official website.
The golfer even posted pictures of herself in those earmuffs on her Instagram with a fellow golfer, Casandra Alexander. And the caption read, “On to the weekend 🫶🏼 A special moment with @cass_golf 🤪”. Despite the hard weather conditions, Grant has been giving a decent performance and is currently holding the 27th spot with a score of 4 under par in round 3. Not on Grant but the World No. 1, Nelly Korda was also seen wearing protective gear to keep herself safe from the cold winds.

Korda was spotted battling the cold winds in style. The golfer was wearing a black Goldman Sachs woolen cap by TaylorMade to keep herself warm on the cold day. But did the bad weather affect her gameplay? Not at all! The golfer is currently leading the game with a brilliant overall score of 7 under par. But is the low temperature going to prove itself a problem at the last round of the major as well?

However, the wind will be the main story, with strong gusts expected throughout the day, just like Saturday. So Grant and Korda are not going to say goodbye to their protective gear anytime soon. The winds will be coming from the southwest, with gusts of up to 30-35 mph. Talk about a chilly day. While the rain shouldn’t be too heavy, the wind chill will make it feel quite crisp. This will make the weather feel even cooler, especially in exposed areas.
