Greg Norman's QR code rings: Genius innovation or unnecessary gimmick in the world of golf?

The LIV Golf Chicago is just around the corner and it is bringing a whole lot of excitement for everyone! Golf fans are over the moon as they wait for the thrilling competition between Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann. Rahm and Niemann both will battle it on the greens of Bolingbrook Golf Club to take home the Individual title. But here’s the interesting thing, the championship prize has more than just the trophy in store for the winner, thanks to Greg Norman’s get another bold move!

In a recent press conference with LIV Golf Chicago, the interviewer revealed something unexpected! So according to the recent LIV update, the winner of the championship will receive a unique ring, but not like the ring we see the NBA players win. A typical NBA ring includes the team’s name and logo, the year of the win, and sometimes even the player’s name. The NBA rings are generally crafted from high-quality gold and range from 10K to 18K. However and this is big however, the LIV rings feature something entirely different yet special.

“I’m going to read you some information about the ring that you guys would get to take home”, said the interviewer, and then came the exciting part, the ring is adorned with  5.78 carats of shiny white diamonds and 1.2 carats of beautiful green emeralds. “It has 5.78 carats of white diamonds, has 1.2 carats of natural green emeralds, has green glow-in-the-dark UV enamel detailing, has a concealed ball marker with an embossed QR code”, said the interviewer. Many of you might have some questions as to what this QR Code is, don’t worry because so did we, and let us tell you that the QR Code is not something ordinary.

“The QR code permalinks to the video reel of your winning moment so the winner can relive and share their victory anytime that they wish, and it also has one carat of black diamonds, 14-carat gold weight of 84.8 grams”. The golfer can revisit their glorious moment anytime they want. Talk about a trip down memory lane! Rahm and Niemann were thrilled to know about this new addition and expressed their thoughts on it!

What did Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann say about the LIV ring?

When asked how awesome would it be for them to take the ring home, Niemann was the first one to speak. “Yeah, that’s pretty cool”, he said but according to the golfer. He also said that his wife won’t be thrilled to know that his ring would have more sparkle than hers. But in all seriousness, he felt that the ring was truly special and unique compared to other trophies.Probably my wife won’t be happy knowing that my ring would have more. No, I feel it’s pretty special”, said the golfer while laughing. Niemann is ready to take on Rahm in their battle in Chicago.

As for Rahm, the golfer was pretty stunned to know all the information about the ring and acknowledged that it was a lot to take in. “I’m trying to picture what it looks like right now, and I can’t get that in my mind. It’s a lot. It’s definitely a lot”, he said. But then, according to him, no one would care if they’re the one who gets it under their possession. He thinks most people will feel the same way: “But honestly, who cares what it is as long as you’re the one that has it. That’s, I think, what most of us will be thinking”.

Although Rahm has yet to achieve this, he’s now in a strong position to claim the Individual Championship title. Currently, he leads with 195.17 points, closely followed by Niemann with 192.20 points. The competition is intense, with Rahm holding a narrow lead of just 2.97 points.
