Who wouldn’t want to win the PGA Tour event? But is winning enough for the players and fans? We guess not, as there has been a lot going on with Sepp Straka who recently bagged the American Express 2025 with his exceptional performance. The Austrian golfer scored 25 under par after four rounds, winning by a lead of 2 strokes from Justin Thomas.

His consistent performance helped him win the title even after falling behind in the last round as he scored 70, while Thomas scored 66. The 31-year-old recorded rounds of 65, 64,64, and 70, leading to a whopping purse increase of more than $1.5 million and 500 FedExCup Points.

Even after winning the event, fans and Straka did not seem too happy. Apart from the purse increase and FedExCup points, there was something else that the players and fans expected him to bag. It was the Ryder Cup points that would increase his chances of getting entry into the 2025 edition. However, unfortunately, the tally hasn’t been updated yet. Because of this, he is still sitting far lower in the rankings.

Straka currently has 80.82 points and is positioned at 67. While the winning points, i.e., 335 as per GOLF.COM, will help him get himself into the top 10 spots. The total tally of points for him will be 415.82, which will help him place just below sixth-positioned Paul Waring, who has 465.13 points. Even though the updating process took longer, fans were eager to see the changes on the list. Some of them started a discussion on X about asking, “Does Straka not get points as was against a Rolex event?” The golfer’s point may get an update soon as another European team prospective golfer for the Ryder Cup saw a similar delay. But the delay was worth the wait for him.

Another golfer jumping up on the rankings with Ryder Cup points

Other than Straka, who won the American Express golf tournament, another European golfer was making his mark parallel in the DP World Tour. With the recently concluded Hero Dubai Desert Classic, LIV golfer Tyrrell Hatton has also impressed the golf world with his performance and clinching the title.

Hatton recorded a one-stroke victory over Daniel Hillier by scoring 71, 65, 68, and 69 in four rounds, leading to his final score being 15 under par. The exceptional performance helped him with a purse increase of almost $1.6 million. However, similar to Sepp Straka, fans were concerned about his Ryder Cup points being updated.

One of the fans wrote on X, “Frustrating to see the European Ryder Cup points list isn’t yet updated – especially as we’re 24 hours on from Hatton’s win and PGA Tour efforts didn’t count this week! US ones are up. Can’t find a breakdown of the points for finishes either.” However, now the list has been updated for Hatton and he has topped the list with 922 points over Rory McIlroy, who has 884 points.

The points for Straka may get updated soon. Irrespective of the delay, both European team players had a great day winning two different tour events, but there is no confirmation of their entry into the team.
