The 2024 PNC Championship is underway as fans are getting to see some of their childhood heroes in action at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. The family event has been action-packed so far with Team Lehmann, Team O’Meara, & Team Harrington leading the table.

Tiger Woods & Charlie Woods are not too far behind having only started on the back 9. But another team that is the topic of our discussion here is Team Korda. LPGA Tour star & world no. 1 player Nelly Korda is paired with her father, Petr Korda in the tournament.

Petr Korda himself is a very accomplished tennis player who has been a grand slam champion during his glory days. As amazing of an athlete he may be, wouldn’t it make more sense for Nelly Korda to have her sister, Jessica Korda teaming with her in the 2024 PNC Championship?

Well, it turns out she can’t. As fans might be aware, Jessica Korda herself is also a successful LPGA Tour pro. She has won 6 events in the league before she went on an indefinite break in mid-2023. However, that is not enough to qualify her for the amateur partner of Nelly Korda according to an article by Golf Monthly.

It turns out, that the professionals can only be paired with a family member who does not hold a status as a player on any professional golf tour. For Jessica Korda to join her sister in the PNC Championship in the future, she will have to give up her career as a professional golfer completely.

Most in the golf community must have already seen the progress Jessica Korda has been making to get closer to coming back as a full-time player. Looking to find her touch again, the 2018 Honda LPGA Thailand has been practicing on the course quite often. Fans have had the pleasure of catching a glimpse of Korda on the course as she has been sharing many pictures and videos of the same on her Instagram page.

In fact, a lot of fans were also excited to learn that Jessica Korda would be participating in a charity event a few months ago. She played in front of a crowd for the first time in over a year. The event was not televised, but the reports of her appearance were all over the news for a brief moment. She definitely seems eager to make a comeback soon and we might see her play in the coming months.
