Did Anirban Lahiri make the right call leaving the USA for LIV Golf? What's your take?

Anirban Lahiri recently claimed that his approach to golf has turned fearless. The golfer does not swing his club thinking about any consequences. The approach, however, is yielding remarkable results as of late. However, this is not the only change that he has made lately. He has changed his residence too. Yes, Lahiri does not reside in the USA anymore and lives in Dubai. Why? Let’s find out.

The 37-year-old golfer resided in West Palm Beach, Florida, for a considerable amount of time when he moved to the US. However, in September 2022, following his contract signing with LIV, the golfer got a Dubai Golden VISA and moved his residency there. He also claimed that it was not a decision out of the blue, but something he had been thinking about for a long time. The golfer further claimed that Dubai was a better choice than Florida. The reason for his lifestyle change lies in his concern for his family.

The golfer confessed that Florida was further away from his home. He reflected,

The Crushers GC team member revealed his calculations too. Any flight from Florida to Hyderabad, where his family stayed, was about 20 hours. The number was somewhat similar for his in-laws’ house too, in Pune. However, staying in Dubai has made it possible for both him and his wife to travel to their homes in about three hours.

Lahiri further revealed to Arab News that his move to Dubai had also enabled his mother to come and help him. He stated, “It’s unfathomable for me to think how, logistically, it would have been possible for my wife, for myself, for my kids, and for my parents to help and come together, which you need to do at times like this.” Then the golfer further added, “I had the luxury of my mom flying down from India twice in the last 45 days because of our emergency. So, moving to Dubai has been fantastic.”

However, Anirban Lahiri’s shift to Dubai also brought about a different change. He formed his own opinion about the facilities he witnessed in this new place.

When Lahiri saw the golf facilities in Dubai, he was instantly impressed. According to Gulf News, he remarked, “I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the golf facilities in Dubai. Here at The Els Club and the Claude Harmon CH3 Academy, it is fantastic. They have everything that as a professional golfer in terms of practice facilities, I require.”

Lahiri further commented on how many pro golfers choose Dubai as their winter base before the commencement of the golf season. It is primarily because of the facilities that Dubai offers through its many eminent golf clubs. This includes the Emirates Golf Club, Jumeirah Golf Estates, and Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

The 37-year-old went so far ahead as to call Dubai a golfing paradise. He claimed the truth of the statement to be valid for both local and international golf enthusiasts. He said, “The golf facilities as well as the physical infrastructure, location as a city in the world, and its warm and generous hospitality.”
