Tiger Woods is coming back on the course! The GOAT is making his annual Genesis Invitational appearance on February 13, 2025. Mr. T confirmed his participation a few days after the heartbreaking passing of his mother, Kultida Woods. The 82x PGAT winner received a lot of support for showing courage to get back on the course with fans telling him to “win for Kultida”. He will be joined by a field of amazing players like the world no. 1; Scottie Scheffler, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am winner; Rory McIlroy, and the man 3x major winner, Jordan Spieth. But there is one more player who will also join the lineup for the prestigious Signature event.

For over a decade, the Genesis Invitational has carried Charlie Sifford’s name like a flag in the wind. The pro broke barriers as the first African American on the PGA Tour tallying 399 cuts and two triumphant wins. His first PGA Tour title  1967 at the age of 45. Honoring these achievements, the tournament introduced and named the Memorial Exemption after him..

The Charlie Sifford Memorial Exemption is a celebration of diversity in golf. It gives opportunities to great young players who have shown promise to excel in the sport. One such player is given an exemption in the Genesis Invitational every year. This time around, Tiger Woods has elected Danny List to be the recipient of the award and the exemption.

The GOAT shared his thoughts on the young player in an article published by the official Genesis Invitational website. He said, “Danny has shown resiliency and determination on the course by earning his DP World Tour card after returning from an injury”. List received his European Tour card in 2025. He has since made 4 appearances in the circuit with his best finish of 3 coming at the MyGolfLife Open hosted by Pecanwood Estate earlier this month.

Woods seems to truly believe in the young golfer as he had also mentioned, “He’s earned this opportunity, and I look forward to seeing Danny tee it up at Torrey”. While most fans would be eager to watch the 82x PGAT winner play, they should also keep an eye on Danny List’s performance.

What made Tiger Woods choose Danny List?

Danny List will be making his career debut in the PGA Tour on February 13, 2025. However, he has played in 3 other Tours in the Americas so far. In 2024, List made his Korn Ferry Tour appearances at the NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank, and he didn’t make the cut. But it is worth mentioning that he faced a cutline set at a scorching 6-under.

The 26-year-old also has 14 PGA Tour Latinoamerica appearances to his name, where he made 8 cuts. His best finish of T10 was at the PTLA Qualifying Tournament-Argentina in 2018. Interestingly, List’s best record is at the PGA Tour Canada where he played in only 3 events in 2022. The Aussie finished at T4 in the PGA TOUR Canada Q-School USA West 1 with a score of 11-under par 277.

Based on List’s Instagram, he had won the 124th California Open in July 2024. Danny List also has a namesake foundation that promotes the sport of golf. They welcome individuals of all age groups, skills, and professions to play and grow the sport.
