Reid turned professional in 1979 and played on the LET until 1991. Since turning pro, she has amassed a number of accolades, including winning the Order of Merit twice in 1984 and 1987. In her professional career, the late golfer acquired a total of 23 wins, with some big names on the list like the Carlsberg Championship, Volkswagen Classic, Ford Ladies Classic, and others.

Her role as a captain was later appreciated by future Solheim Cup captains like Alison Nicholas and Helen Alfredsson. They looked up to her as a role model and took lessons from her. Later in her life, she moved to Australia and spent the rest of her life there. In 2001, Reid saw the whole world recognize her efforts when she became an OBE on the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.
