Many recent professionals have shown newsworthy performances after turning pro. In the list of rookies, William Mouw is a notable name. The professional from Pepperdine University has been making significant moves since his early career. However, his 2025 schedule has not started as expected. He missed the cut in the first event, which was the Sentry, while was ranked 152 in the second, i.e., the American Express.

Even so, the American professional has made rapid progress after turning professional in 2023. He earned his PGA Tour card via the Korn Ferry Tour Points List and turned into a regular. Here is all you need to know about Mouw.

Early life and junior career of William Mouw

The Upland, California-born, was taught golf by his father Billy Mouw, who was a keen golfer. His father played professionally at Azusa Pacifica and Cal State San Bernardino. Following the learnings from his father and watching Jack Nicklaus, who was his favorite player, he pursued his career.

Mouw in his school days played basketball and golf together. Apart from making a mark in golf events, he helped the school in basketball to the Ambassador League title in 2019. As per the website of Pepperdine, his golf career saw an upward move in Christian High School as he was a three-time Ambassador League MVP and league Champion. Mouw played four years of varsity golf, where he was named the Cal-Hi Sports Division 5 Athlete of the Year (for all sports) in 2018-2019. Along with that, won the 2018 CIF Southern Section Championship and tied for third at the 2019 CIF State Championship.

His exceptional career had shown signs from his early days as an amateur, which finally led to his breakthrough.

During the high school graduation year in 2019, the American won the Thunderbird Invitational and the Heather Farr Classic. He even won the California Amateur Championship at the age of 18, becoming one of the youngest ever to win the tournament. Following his performance at multiple golf events, he represented the U.S. at the 2021 Walker Cup and was also named for the 2020 U.S. Arnold Palmer Cup team.

A four-time All-American through four seasons was ranked third at the Pepperdine in career, scoring an average of 71.00. With 47 appearances and 138 rounds, he had 19 top-10 and 30 top-20 finishes. Mouw’s first world ranking event was at the Country Club Brookline in the 2022 US Open. After qualifying for the event, he unfortunately couldn’t make the cut after rounds of 75 and 74.

However, in 2023, after finishing sixth on the PGA Tour University Ranking, he earned a Korn Ferry Tour membership. The 24-year-old reached his career high with seventh position on the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Debuting on the PGA Tour in 2023 as a professional at the John Deere Classic, he recorded a T13 finish.

Other than this, he even recorded a runner-up finish at the Korn Ferry Tour 2024, where his dad caddied for him. The great performance helped him secure a PGA Tour card in his second season.

In his first year as a professional, i.e., 2023, Mouw recorded 4 top 30 and 3 top 20 finishes. In 2024, it was fairly improved as he came close to the title thrice with his runner-up finishes at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open, Albertsons Boise Open, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship of Korn Ferry Tour. With such professional feats, fans must be eager to know about William Mouw’s personal life.

Personal life of William Mouw

Born to Billy Mouw and Michelle Mouw in Upland, California. Along with his parents, Mouw has three siblings: Madison, Taryn, and Trey. Last year on 21st May, 2023, the professional married Hannah, who is Mouw’s long-time girlfriend. The couple were in high school together in California and met after one of Mouw’s basketball games.

Other than his keen interest in golf, the professional loves to play ping-pong, basketball, and tennis. His favorite course is Nicklaus Private and is a vivid reader who follows basketball apart from golf. His favorite NBA team is the Phoenix Suns.

Though the professional struggled with his 2025 start in the first two events, his great skills showcased after turning professional in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, are proof of his first title coming in soon.
