With an Official World Golf Ranking of 115, Vince Whaley has made many headlines with his name for his stunning birdies. The American golfer has had an intriguing relationship with golf since his childhood. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, in the United States, back on March 14, 1995. His introduction to clubs, balls, and greens came naturally, as his instructor was his father, Bill Whaley. But his favorite golf memory is with his grandpa instead. Vince Whaley shared how at 7, his grandpa caddied for him at a Starburst Junior Golf tournament.
The 29-year-old was passionate about the sport since childhood, but his passion grew when Vince Whaley joined the University of Georgia. During his time at Georgia Tech, Whaley says, “I really wasn’t that great of a player. I just hitched my wagon to Ollie Schniederjans because he was No. 1 (amateur) in the world at the time.”
The golfer player also shared how he and Ollie Schniederjans played together, and he just used to observe Schniederjans’ moves as “I thought this guy was doing something right and did whatever he did.” “He also taught me how to practice,” said Whaley in an interview with the Tour.

How many events has the American star won?
The pro has played at over 100 events now. But just like every athlete, his journey also started as an amateur. Back in 2016, the current RMS player won the All-State title three times, and since then, he has never looked back. In 2015, he won the Ohio State Invitational. The amateur turned into a pro as he also captured two more titles, the All-ACC and Academic All-American titles under his name.
As Whaley continued his journey, he also got the opportunity to represent himself at the prestigious Augusta National. And he can never forget that experience for all the bad reasons! While playing at Augusta National, he had to quit on the 16th and 17th holes. The reason? Vince Whaley got food poisoned from the fast food he had before stepping on the greens that day.
