Does Lorcan Morris's dual career as a caddie and firefighter redefine dedication and passion?

There are many things that play a major factor in a golfer’s game, whether it is their equipment, the weather or even the course they are playing on. But one thing that stays constant in playing a significant role in a golfer’s life is their caddie and we think you might agree with that statement. Well, that stays the same for golfer Tim O’Neal and his partner on the greens Lorcan Morris.

Morris has been caddying for O’Neal for quite a while and by the looks of it their partnership on the course is only thriving. So, who is this person who is caddying for O’Neal? Well, he is a legend and you’ll agree with us after reading more.

O’Neal is not the first golfer that Morris is caddying for as he has been doing this for quite some time. With 10 years of experience under his belt, Morris has had the privilege of working with a talented line of golfers which includes Len Mattiace, Mark Anderson, and Sydnee Michaels. O’Neal’s caddie is a native of Dublin, Ireland, and had developed a passion for golf that led him to play college golf at Wingate University in North Carolina.

When asked about what was his best golf memory, Morris replied with something no one could’ve expected. “Winning The Charlotte City Am in 2006, a WAGR event, and getting my name on a trophy with so many accomplished players”, he said, per The Caddie Network. But what was more surprising than this was what he said later when he was asked about the greatest moment for him as a caddie. “Winning LPGA Futures Tour Championship on September 11, 2011, in New York with Sydnee Michaels.” However, Sydnee Michaels is not the only female golfer Morris has caddied for as he has also been the bag man for golf legends like Michelle Wie West as well.

Does Lorcan Morris's dual career as a caddie and firefighter redefine dedication and passion?

Have an interesting take?

After caddying for golf legends like Michelle Wie, Len Mattiace, and Sydnee Michaels, Lorcan Morris shocked the golf world by trading his caddie bib for a firefighter’s helmet in 2016. Yes, you read it right! When Morris was a caddie he had a growing family, which included a daughter, Trinity, and a newborn son Fergus. This led to Morris prioritizing stability over life on the tour. His inspiration for becoming a firefighter came from his brother, Conor who was already a fireman and he helped him get enrolled in the local firefighting academy.

He was determined to succeed and make ends meet. Morris graduated number one in his class by beating out students half his age. “I proved to my parents that I could excel in a ‘proper job,'” he chuckled. However, the golf bug kicked in just in time for the man to realize that his true calling was being a caddie. “I think that caddying is like a drug, I was hooked again right away,” he said.
