Miles Russell broke the record on the Korn Ferry Tour and became the youngest player to make the cut on the developmental Tour. Two weeks later, 16-year-old Kris Kim stole the headlines from him. The golf prodigy from England has received a sponsor exemption and was invited to the CJ Cup Byron Nelson 2024. The invite did not go in vain. The amateur golfer became the youngest player since Kyle Suppa at the 2015 Sony Open to make a cut on the PGA Tour.
After the conclusion of the second round a few hours ago, he has landed himself at the T36 position on the leaderboard, with a score of 7-under 135. The golf community has huge expectations of him. With the rise in fame for Kris Kim, sponsorships have been floating in for him!
The ex-LPGA Tour player, Ji-Hyun Suh’s son is now all ready to go and give his best shot in the final two rounds of the Byron Nelson event. It is scheduled to begin at 9:20 am ET on Saturday 4th May. He will be teeing off along with Carson Young at the TPC Craig Ranch in Texas.

Kris Kim joins Miles Russell and Jordan Spieth
Apart from fulfilling Kris Kim’s dream of getting a chance to play with his idols Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy, he also got a couple of sponsorship exemptions. Apart from being managed by Trinity Sports, here is a list of brand endorsements that the prodigy has been sponsored with for his accolades:
CJ Cup
Kris Kim was the first amateur who got sponsored by CJ Group last May. They became the title sponsor of the Byron Nelson event just this year, as earlier, the event was called AT&T Byron Nelson. Kim got the opportunity to appear at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in the very first place because he was already an ambassador of the home brand.
His hat bears the logo of this brand. Apart from this, his T-shirt also holds the logo of the Korean food brand Bibigo Global. This is also a part of the CJ Cup team, created by Cheil Jedang!

TaylorMade
Along with the CJ Cup, Kris Kim has also etched his name as the first British Amateur to sign a sponsorship deal with TaylorMade. Looks like Kris Kim is pretty much right behind Miles Russell, slowly taking over every victory! TaylorMade also had an NIL deal with the AJGA Rolex Junior Player of the Year earlier in April this year, right before taking Kris Kim on board.
“I have built a great relationship with Mark and the team over the past few years and am excited for what’s to come in the years ahead. TaylorMade has a high pedigree and eye for developing future stars, helping them to become PGA TOUR and major championship winners. I am looking forward to working with the team and reaching the goals I have set out for my career,” said Kris Kim on signing the deal with the brand.
Under Armour:
Kris Kim became the first European amateur to sign an NIL deal with the big name Under Armour. It has been a sponsor for big names like Matt Fitzpatrick, Hunter Mahan, Jordan Spieth, Maverick McNealy, and Alison Lee in the golf world. Kris Kim even spoke about how grateful he was for being backed by Under Armour, which is a pretty big deal for him, given his association with the big names. He said, “Under Armour has helped me for some time now. I’m very grateful for their support and very happy to continue the partnership.”

Golfing4Life is a non-profit organization that has been the root support system of Kris Kim’s golfing journey along with his mother Ji-Hyun Suh. It was with their assistance that he managed to pull out his elite golfer roles along with his GCSE. At one of the pressers on the New Course at Sunningdale, expressing his gratitude to the team, Kris Kim thanked them and said, “I appreciate being part of a great team there and it gives me a lot of confidence.”
Well, there is too much at stake for Kris Kim at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Even though he has made the cut and is well through the second round of the championship, all eyes are on the rising star, awaiting him to stand out. Will he be able to meet the expectations at the event? Stay tuned to find out!
