The golfer’s success is a team effort that the golf world majorly overlooks. However, Sepp Straka wouldn’t agree with it. The Austrian golfers saw a huge upside since he changed his caddie. After turning pro in 2016, the golfer won only one event in 6 years, which was at the 2022 Honda Classic. Next year he made a change in his team and the results were obviously great with him reaching 20th OWGR and 2nd on FedExCup Rankings.
Even with his recent wins, he has been in the news, but not his caddie. So here are details about Josef Straka’s caddie.

The 31-year-old golfer has been a professional for more than 9 years. Until 2023, he teamed up with John Davenport, his caddie. Unfortunately, during that tenure, he won only one event. Considering this and the opportunity from a fellow golfer going on a break helped Sepp Straka with a career-advancing decision of his professional career.
Duane Bock, who was the caddie of Kevin Kisner, won 10 events. But with Kisner going on a break, Straka switched his caddie with the fellow professional. In 2023, when Bock joined hands with the Austrian professional, it turned out to be the ideal team. This dream team resulted in a win at the 2023 John Deere Classic and a T2 finish at the Open.

Not only this, even the 2025 schedule has been a great one for the duo, as after clinching a win at the American Express, the team leads after the second round at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Sepp Straka’s relationship with Duane Bock
After the golfer and caddie found each other, it turned into a game-changer. Even the golfer shared the same with GOLF.COM. He said, “I’ve known Duey for a while now since he caddied for a friend of mine, Kis.” He even said, “And Kis is taking a little break, so I figured I’d borrow him for a little bit. It’s worked out great. I love Duey. He’s a great caddie, and I’m really happy to have him on the bag.”
With over 17 years of experience as a professional caddie, Bock has been living up to the standard of his expertise. Even the three-time PGA winner has also praised him for his work ethic. He shared, “He’s a very professional guy and still likes to have a lot of fun out there, but whether I’m 2-over or playing great, he’s unchanged. He’s great at just kind of not showing any sort of emotion one way or another. He’s on [to the] next shot, no matter what.”
The expertise of the game for Duane Bock didn’t just come in with his career as a caddie, but it was acquired through his journey as a professional golfer.
Early life and professional career of Duane Bock
The story of one of the most professional and successful caddies dates back to his childhood when his passion for the game gave him a way towards caddying. Bock’s father introduced him to the game and picked his first club at the age of four. However, he purchased his first official set of clubs at the age of 16 with the money he earned while working as a caddie at the Maidstone Club.

Eventually, his love for the game and his two elder brothers playing college golf showed him a similar path. Sharing about it, he said, “Maidstone also allowed the employees to play and practice after five o’clock and that’s where I fell in love with the game.” His career was laid till the professional level, but not for long as he switched to the caddy life after that.
After almost a decade of career and being a rookie on the Canadian Tour, the role switch happened in his life. In 2002, while welcoming a new family member, his daughter, Bock realized the grind as a pro was not feasible, which opened a new option of becoming a coach. While on his journey in 2009, he got an opportunity to work with the rising star Kevin Kisner.
Later in Q-school, Kisner hired him and the partnership lasted for 14 years, with some great career achievements for both. After the break in 2023, Bock joined hands with the American Express winner Sepp Straka and we know how great the journey has been.
