The golfer-turned-analyst’s personal life was forged in resilience. Born on May 23, 1988, in Tampa, Florida, to Mike Pressel and Kathy Krickstein Pressel, Morgan’s early years were marked by love and support. However, tragedy struck when her mother passed away from breast cancer in September 2003, leaving the 15-year-old heartbroken.

In the aftermath, Pressel found solace in her grandparents’ care. Later, she moved in with them, and they provided her with a stable and nurturing environment. The retired golfer also has two younger siblings. One of them, Madison, also pursued golf and had played collegiate golf at Texas University. However, after their mother’s tragic passing, the sisters stayed with their father. She credits her late grandfather, Herb Krickstein, who was a retired physician and pathologist, as the individual influencing her career.

Her golfing career took off like a dream with her grandfather’s guidance and support, and she started playing at the age of 8. In 2001, Pressel created history by becoming the youngest player to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open at just 12 years old. In 2014, however, that record was broken by Luci Li. The 36-year-old completed her graduation from Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton in 2006. Before her graduation, she turned pro in November 2005 and quickly made a name for herself on the LPGA Tour.

Running the Morgan Pressel Foundation

In 2007, former LPGA golfer Morgan Pressel established a nonprofit to help defeat cancer. The organization focuses on three key projects, including the Kathryn Krickstein Pressel Mammovan, a state-of-the-art mobile mammography unit that brings advanced 3D imaging technology to women across South Florida, increasing access to life-saving breast health screenings.

Next is the Morgan Pressel Center for Cancer Genetics, which offers expert genetic testing and counseling to identify inherited cancer risks for over 40 types of cancer, empowering patients to take proactive measures. Additionally, the MedStar Women’s Health Nurse Navigator program ensures timely access to comprehensive breast cancer care, streamlining the journey from screening to diagnosis and treatment.

As the 36-year-old puts it, “Establishing the foundation started as a way to handle the grief of losing my mother and to honor her legacy. In 2007, we held the first Morgan & Friends tournament at St. Andrews Country Club with the support of my LPGA friends and our community, and we haven’t missed a year since.”
