It’s finally happening! Nick Dunlap will be in the SoFi Center arena for Atlanta Drive GC’s next TGL match. Everyone was hoping he would be a part of the contest sooner or later. He was one of the most promising stars to be missing from the lineups before TGL began. Albeit for one match, Dunlap is finally going to be making his debut in the league.

The young PGA Tour pro had an incredible 2024. His record-setting wins in the season saw him capture two titles and display outstanding strokeplay throughout the year. There is no question that Dunlap has earned his spot in the Atlanta Drive GC’s lineup. But who is he replacing?

As per the official TGL website, Nick Dunlap will be taking the place of Justin Thomas for the next Atlanta Drive GC match. Unfortunately, Thomas and his TGL teammate, Patrick Cantlay, have stated that they will be unavailable for the next TGL match as they are preparing for the Arnold Palmer Invitational next week. Interestingly, Billy Horschel will also be a part of the field for the Signature event. But he has chosen to stay back to support his golf club alongside Lucas Glover.

This is not the first time we’ve seen a player join TGL for a single round. In a shocking turn of events, Tony Finau had also been signed for a one-match contract with TGL a few days ago. The Los Angeles GC squad was missing a player, as Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose had other commitments. Hence, Tony Finau dropped in to join Sahith Theegala and Collin Morikawa for a single match. That didn’t particularly please the fans as they were hoping for Xander Schauffele to make his return after a long sabbatical due to an injury. However, Finau’s inclusion helped the LAGC squad as his 2-point win in the singles bout against Cameron Young was the difference maker for them to win 5-4 against New York GC after overtime. LAGC was confident in their new hire’s abilities, so they had started the 13th hole contest with a Hammer throw.

Will Nick Dunlap also have the same kind of impact for the Atlanta Drive GC? Only time will tell. For now, let’s see who he will be up against.

Nick Dunlap vs. his idol

Every young pro golfer usually has one common player whom they idealize: Tiger Woods. The same is the case for Nick Dunlap. And he will be going up against the GOAT’s Jupiter Links GC in the last league match of TGL before the playoffs.

Besides Woods, Dunlap will also be facing Tom Kim and Max Homa. Kim has not qualified for the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational as he hasn’t won a tournament since last season or in 2025. However, Homa will be a part of the Signature event being played from March 6-9, 2025. Unlike Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay, and despite a poor run of form, Homa has decided to prioritize his TGL commitments over his upcoming PGA Tour appearance. Fans will be eager to see how he performs in the next TGL match and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Dunlap’s team has already qualified for the playoffs. Jupiter Links GC, NYGC, and Boston Common Golf are still fighting for the last position available. Atlanta Drive GC vs. Jupiter Links GC will begin at 7 PM (EST) on March 4, 2025.
