Ask Mimi Rhodes what was her goal ahead of her maiden win at the NSW Open in Australia and she will tell you she was “just trying to focus on making the cut.” In just her fourth tour appearance, she set a course record with a nine-under 62 at Wollongong. Now, Mimi Rhodes is playing at the Joburg Ladies Open and she seems just as strong. The English golfer started strong in the game and followed it in the next game as well. She began the day five holes in and had a bogey-free round on Saturday, scoring four birdies and finishing round two at 12-under par. Looking at this, you must be curious about this rising star in the game.

The Taunton-born golfer started it strong. She represented Europe in the 2019 Junior Solheim Cup and made amazing finishes in 2019. It included being a semi-finalist in the British Girls, a quarter-finalist in the British Amateur, and finishing 13th in the World Junior Girls Championship. Rhodes also represented England internationally from 2016 to 2020. Her highest WAGR was 65, however, her games have always been promising.

In her freshman year (2020-21), Rhodes competed in six of seven events during the spring, achieving four top-25 finishes. Her best? T10 at the Gamecock Intercollegiate. As a Sophomore (2021-22), Rhodes participated in all eight regular season events and the postseason, achieving a solid four top-20 finishes. So, what was her best? Well, it came in October at the ANNIKA, where she was the top-finishing Deach with a five-under score of 211! Lastly, she earned All-ACC accolades for the first time and had a stroke average of 73.09 over 33 rounds.

Following that, in her junior year (2022-23), Rhodes was ranked 5th on the All-ACC Team with a stroke average of 72.92 over 36 rounds, achieving six top-25 finishes. It included a seventh-place finish at the ACC Championship, her best of the year! In her senior year, she finished the year with a stroke average of 71.56 over 27 rounds. She also earned NCAA All-American honors for the first time. How did this one come about? Well, thanks to her finishing in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships. Notably, 17 of her 27 rounds were even par or better during her senior season. Now, let’s take a look at her personal life! We will be quick!

A brief look at Mimi Rhodes’ personal life

Although Mimi Rhodes was born in England, she grew up in Spain. By the time she turned eight, she started playing golf, inspired by her grandmother. However, her passion also earned her a full scholarship to the top Division I Women’s College Golf Team at Wake Forest University. She graduated in Communications and minors in Spanish and Marketing last May. Outside of golf, she enjoys going to the gym and playing other sports, as well as spending time with her family, dog, and friends! And you will see plenty of that on her Instagram account.

For instance, Rhodes shared a post early this year with pictures of her family, friends, and her dog with the caption: “A happy start to 2025🔋🥰.” Before that, she wished her fans for Christmas with a post filled with her family and friends with the caption: “merry xmas from the rhodsies 🫶🏼.” However, while we are discussing Mimi Rhodes, we have to take a look at her golfer sister, Patience Rhodes as well!

Both the sisters were introduced to golf at a young age by their grandmother, Susan. Additionally, Patience Rhodes is a promising golfer in her own right. The No. 21 overall recruit has improved over the past two years. She finished 17th at the 2021 European Women’s Amateur Championship. Besides that, she achieved two recent Top-10 finishes, including a ninth place at the Internationaux de France U21 competition. Currently, she is ranked 34th in the European Golf Rankings.

Talking about the sisters, their mother, Penny Rhodes, shared their strongest points at the 2024 Curtis Cup: “Their games do seem to complement each other very well. Patience is long off the tee. Mimi is better with the long irons. And Patience is a great putter.” If everything goes well, we will see both sisters going stronger in the upcoming years!
