Some people come into your life in the most unexpected of ways. Such was the meet-cute between Max Homa and his caddie of more than half a decade, Joe Greiner. The duo first met when Homa was just a 6-year-old child. Ever since, call it destiny or their shared love for the game of golf, life has kept them together.
It’s almost as if there’s a string that has kept them tied for a very long time. Consequentially, this long-lasting bond is reflected in the duo’s coordination and teamwork as well. But who really is Joe Greiner?

Greiner has long been involved in the game of golf. What started as his aspiration to become a pro golfer in his days as a collegiate golfer at College of the Canyons, Santa Clarita, California, eventually turned into his long years of serving the game as a veteran caddie.
Having worked the bag of golfers like Kevin Chappell and Homa over the years, Greiner has revealed his admiration for the holistic sport time and again.
The Stevenson Ranch resident once said, “I realized one day that I wanted to pursue this as a career and that this is something I wanted to do for the rest of my life.” He went on to say,“Everything in my life was golf. If I wasn’t playing it or practicing, I was thinking about it.”

The relationship that Max Homa and this golf lover at heart share is truly a special one. Apart from being the former’s caddie, Greiner is also one of his close friends. In fact, they even used to play golf together at the Vista Valencia Golf Club, where Greiner has a course record at par-3—a fact he does not fail to remind the 33-year-old of.
The professional PGAT bagman is also very supportive of his friend’s golfing journey. So much so that he is often witnessed complimenting him on his ability to remain steady even when he is “super nervous.” What really stands out to Greiner is that “he’s got this weird thing where he gets super nervous, but his hands are very steady. He’s got something special in him, that’s for sure.”
Before formally starting up together in 2013, the golf lovers also briefly teamed up in 2013. However, this brief stint did not last, and the famous caddie went on to offer his services to Kevin Chappell instead. However, destiny did not seem to give up on its plot to bring them together.
Years later, in 2019, when Chappell had to take a break due to his back surgery, Greiner and Homa reunited. The duo has not let go of one another since. Interestingly, back in 2021, the six-time PGAT winner had to take the aid of Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay, as his longtime friend and caddie qualified for the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship at the time, which coincided with his schedule.
However, shortly after, Greiner resumed his responsibilities. But who is a part of Greiner’s family?

Joe Greiner’s family life uncovered
Despite the fact that Max Homa’s bagman is a rather private individual, little is known about his family life. Joe Greiner married Mayla Greiner on January 12th, 2023. The Caddie Network was quick to share the happy news with the world, and they captured a beautiful moment from the couple’s wedding.

While it is not known how long the couple has been acquainted, it can be said that they were dating back in 2022, as was evident from Max Homa’s post featuring his wife, Caddie, and Mayla back in September of that year. Homa wrote, “First time we had the whole nucleus on site with 3 of my closest friends there too.”
The familial atmosphere shared by these two and their respective partners is truly unlike most player-caddie relationships. It is safe to assume that their closeness can be traced to the days of deep bonding and friendship that preceded their current professional bond.
