Markus Kinhult was born in Fiskebäckskil on a Swedish island called Skafta. Whether you call it destiny or a stroke of luck, Kinhult’s house was right next to the Skafto Golf Club. Moreover, his father, Mikael Kinhult, was a professional golfer as well. His sister, Frida is also an accomplished golfer who was once the world’s no. 1 amateur player. Being surrounded by golfers just outside his door, the 28-year-old soon got attracted to the sport. He started playing it at the young age of 6 and has never been too far away from his clubs since.
Kinhult was only 18 when he represented Team Europe in the 2014 Junior Ryder Cup. Unfortunately, his team didn’t perform well in the tournament as they lost 16-8. However, the Swedish pro is not to be blamed for the loss as he proved his skills at the 2014 Youth Olympics where he won the silver medal. Markus Kinhult won his first tournament at the 2015 Junior Invitational before turning pro and gaining his DP World Tour card.
Ever since then, Kinhult has had a wayward in the DP World Tour. After he was only able to make the cut twice in the 12 European events, he lost his DP World Tour card. He went on to the Challenge Tour where he got 11 top-10 finishes in 31 starts. Kinhult also finished 5th on the Road to Oman table in 2017 to finally win his DP World Tour card back. This time, he didn’t let it go to waste.
Just a year and a few months after getting his card back, Markus Kinhult won the 2019 Betfred British Masters. He also achieved a runner-up finish the same year in the Nedbank Golf Challenge. After leveling on scores in the final round, Kinhult scored a bogey to Tommy Fleetwood’s par to lose the playoffs. His performance in 2019 helped him gain valuable R2DR points and access to many more events. He finished 12th on the DP World Tour leaderboard that season.
Ever since then, Kinhult has had a few good performances over 5 years to end up at 321 on OWGR. As reported by NBC Sports, he also experienced a major health scare in 2021 where he went into a seizure. He returned to the professional circuit only three months later completely fine and ready to go. However, considering the progress he has made in 2024, there is no doubt he will start ranking higher in the coming years to gain his PGA Tour card as well. Perhaps, even a lucrative LIV Golf deal might also be in store for the swinger from Sweden.

There is more to Kinhult than just his professional golf career. Let’s take a look at his life outside the DP World Tour.
For Markus Kinhult, it’s not all about his drives
As his Instagram profile @marcuskinhult shows, Markus Kinhult is an excellent trickster in golf. As his post from October 2017 shows, Kinhult can scoop the golf ball extremely well. So well that he bagged it in the golf bag that was over his shoulder. In another instance, the Swedish showman is also seen at the receiving end of a scoop as he catches it with a knife. No, he does not balance it; instead, Kinhult just pierces the oncoming scoop to keep it in position as seen in his post from April 2020.

Kinhult’s dream fourball would be the GOAT; Tiger Woods, golf legend; Ben Hogan, and the Swiss Maestro of Tennis; Roger Federer according to the information provided on the DP World Tour’s official website. The last pick might not surprise those who know that the Swedish smasher also indulges in paddle tennis when he is away from golf. One of his Instagram posts also shows the Swedish swimmer in full gear posing in the Indian Ocean during his visit to the Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort in Mauritius. We can assume he enjoys swimming as well. Back in September 2022, Markus Kinhult got married to his long-time partner Agnes Harrysson Hansson. They had been dated at least since April 2018, according to Agnes’s Instagram timeline.
