In 2023, 26-year-old Isaiah Salinda teamed up with Callum Tarren for the third round of the Shriners Children’s Open. Their combined efforts, especially Salinda’s four birdies on the first four holes of the back nine, resulted in an impressive best-ball score of 55. Excited by the performance, Salinda’s caddie, Bradley Knox, exclaimed, “Let’s do it again tomorrow!” Salinda followed his third-round score of 63 with a solid 67 in the final round, finishing tied for seventh. Bradley Knox was born at Stanford Hospital and resides in Menlo Park, California. He is the son of Susan and Brad Knox and has a strong family connection to Stanford University, with his mother, father, sister, uncle, and grandfather all having attended the prestigious institution. In addition to his parents, Knox has three siblings: Katherine, Jeffrey, and Kevin. Interestingly, he is not the only athlete in the family; his sister Katherine played volleyball, and his brother Kevin played golf at Pomona College.

Before helping Isaiah Salinda achieve impressive scores on the greens, Knox excelled academically. He was a standout student at Sacred Heart High School in California, where he also played golf and basketball. In 2013, he earned recognition as a San Jose Mercury News all-area selection, was named to the first team all-conference, and received the team MVP award. Knox made history as the first state qualifier in his school’s history and is a two-time Rotary Award winner in mathematics, as well as an AP Scholar. For Knox, however, his friendship with Salinda started on Stanford University’s campus.

In 2018, Salinda played at Pebble Beach Golf Links for the first time in his life during the U.S. Amateur, and what a brilliant day he had with Knox by his side! The young golfer began the day with an impressive 3-under 68, eventually advancing to the match-play portion. After leaving Will Grimmer and Trevor Philips behind, Salinda faced a tough start in the afternoon but managed to sail through the match, thanks to a birdie on the 11th hole.

Unsurprisingly, Knox became Salinda’s biggest supporter during the week. Talking about their friendship then, Knox said, “I’ve known Isaiah for 10 years. We played junior golf together, and then being on the Stanford golf team together we spend 20 hours or more every week traveling together, playing tournaments together, and playing practice rounds for six hours. I think the people you get to know the best in college are your teammates and just knowing when to calm him down, when to make him laugh, and all that kind of stuff [is important] because out here it can get pretty intense.” However, in addition to Salinda’s outstanding gameplay, Knox has several achievements of his own.

Bradley Knox boasts a solid resume beyond Isaiah Salinda’s amazing gameplay

If you’re looking at Isaiah Salinda’s resume, you will find Bradley Knox present during most of the important games in his career. However, Knox’s incredible support for his fellow Stanford alumnus comes from his own history with golf. Bradley Knox’s recorded journey with golf started in 2016, where the American finished T57 at the U.S. Amateur. Knox followed that with a finish of T14 at the following golf event, the California State Fair. But Knox’s strong performance continued in the U.S. Amateur qualifier, where he finished runner-up and earned local medalist honors. But, hey, that was just the start for Knox. Thanks to his amazing performances in his young life, he played on Stanford’s golf team from 2015 to 2018.

During his senior years at Stanford, Knox was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic second team. During his senior year, he participated in 8 events and finished with scores averaging 72.29 over 24 rounds. But his best during that time came at the Western Intercollegiate, where he finished T13 and registered his best tournament score (66).

Before his senior years, Bradley Knox was doing pretty good in his golf games as well. Take, for instance, that during his years as a junior and sophomore, Knox kept his scoring average around 73.73 and 74.13, respectively. Thanks to his consistent performance, Knox ended up finishing T5 at the Western Intercollegiate in his junior year.

Keeping in mind that Bradley Knox is not a professional golfer, these numbers and averages are impressive. It’s no wonder Isaiah Salinda is performing so well at the Zurich Classic!
