Ingrid Lindblad rises – A rookie season on a meteoric ascent
Born on April 11, 2000, Ingrid Lindblad was raised by Lars and Cecilia Lindblad in Halmstad, Sweden. She also has an elder brother named Fredrick. In a Q&A with Healthy Tiger, Lindblad revealed that she was 5 when she first started playing golf. Interestingly, that was not the only sport she enjoyed. The 25-year-old admitted that she also loved playing soccer and figure skating. What only began as a summer activity with other kids turned into a lifelong passion. After years of practice and training, the Swede started playing in tournaments at the age of 12.
In the next 13 years, Lindblad managed to achieve a lot in her life. She completed her schooling and got enrolled in Louisiana State University. During her time at LSU, the Swedish golfer managed to prosper as an amateur player. She won 15 titles during her time at the University, including a win in the NCAA Bryan Regional. Lindblad also had 27 other top-10 finishes, including a couple of NCAA Championships. In 2022, she helped lead Team Sweden to a thrilling win at the Espirito Santo Trophy, sealing victory in a nail-biting scorecard playoff against the U.S. A world title brought home! So, saying that she had a successful career would be an understatement.
Outside college life, the Sweden national also participated in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur four times in her career. Three of those appearances saw her finish within the top 3 without getting a win. Before turning pro, she had already played in the AIG Women’s British Open 2019, but missed the cut. Since then, Lindblad has had three U.S. Women’s Open appearances and one Amundi Avian Championship run that were noteworthy. In 2020, the Swede finished T30 in the U.S. Open and ended at T11 in the same tournament in 2022. In her only participation in the Amundi Avian Championship in 2024, Lindblad finished T26.
