Hannah Green was able to break her long winless drought of four years with a win in the 2023 JM Eagle LA Championship. She has a total of 10 professional wins, including 3 victories each on the LPGA Tour and the Symetra Tour and 4 ALPG Tour wins. These accolades are but a testament to the grit and determination that she has shown until now. But even so, a lot of the credit goes to Green’s support on the course, her caddie.

Seven years after turning professional in 2016, she has been slowly building up her performance for a while despite not securing a win. Nevertheless, the professional is expected to rise through the ranks of the golfing world with her looper’s help. Let us take a look at the person who’s been on the bags of the Australian golfer.

The Australian golfer paired up with Nate Blasko in 2018, two years after turning professional. In the following year, the golf world saw the duo’s success as they bagged victories at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship — her only major win to date — and at the Cambia Portland Classic.

The looper grew up in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The 29-year-old was not much of a scratch golfer during his amateur days. Moreover, a majority of his experience caddying in the sport consisted of him riding around in the golf carts with his friends when he was back home.

If one were to ask the Canadian what he loves about his job, they would surely get a reply along the lines of how he gets to watch a sport that he loves all the while making a living. Moreover, the prospect of traveling to different places also provides the looper with an enjoyable experience.

The Green-Blasko vibe

The duo has taken pleasure in each other’s company as they were spotted many times having fun on and off the course. An interview of the 1X major winner by National Car Rental during the 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship where she participated as the defending champion showcases the vibe between the two.

The quick-fire round, named Who’s Really in Control saw the caddie anticipating the answers to each of the 10 questions asked to the golfer. Although the looper only got three out of them right, the fun interaction, including the wrong answers, showcased an amusing and jolly relationship between the professionals.

Blasko and Green’s first major win

After the Aussie clinched her first major win of her career, she was seen hugging her caddie on the 18th green at the Hazeltine National Golf Club. Moreover, the looper had gone on to say, “For her to be able to go wire to wire in a major championship with the best players in the world nipping at her heels, I really don’t know what to say,” all the while singing praises of the golfer and her victory.

She had entered the final round with a four-stroke lead but was unable to keep the same after three bogeys on the 9th, 11th, and 12th holes. However, Blasko was able to keep the golfer calm which turned out to be a tremendous help to Green. Moreover, the professional was very appreciative of her on-course partner as she pointed out the looper’s role in her victory.

Recounting an interesting story from the 2019 major, the Canadian once mentioned how he could not find a proper sprinkler head in the rough near the fairway bunker near. So the looper went ahead to make up a number. Well, what transpired came as a surprise for the bagman as the Australian professional hit the shot onto the green. She turned in an overall total of 9-under 279.

Assisting the Aussie on the bag has been a true learning curve for the Canadian. Hopefully, he will be able to push Green forward to win more events in the future, thereby helping her become a force to be reckoned with in the game of golf.
