Professional golfers are always the talk of the town, but even the golfers showcasing great talent at the junior or amateur level also take the spotlight. David Ford is currently in the spotlight with his performance at the junior and amateur levels. Even though he has not turned pro till now, he still has gotten the chance to participate in the PGA Tour events.
David Ford, being in college, showcased a great level of golf skill. The American amateur golfer is pursuing his studies at the University of North Carolina (UNC). But what took his name to the news is his consecutive wins at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational and the Williams Cup. The performance helped him with the top rank on the PGA Tour University rankings.

Born on September 14, 2002, in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. Following his father Patrick Ford’s footsteps, Junior Ford enjoyed a successful career, winning several events, including the Junior Players Championship and the Rolex Tournament of Champions. Apart from just winning, he shot the joint-lowest of the tournament with 10-under 62.

After graduating from Rivers Academy High School, he pursued his career at UNC, keeping the top spot in the junior rankings of AJGA and Golfweek. His exceptional performance carried on even during his amateur years, as he was UNC’s all-time leader in stroke average, with a 70.58 score to par and average score to par per round.
Following the performance, he was awarded ACC Freshman of the Year 2022 and ACC Player of the Year 2023. He was awarded thrice with All-ACC and All-America, and he is one of the top 10 Tar Heels players to get All-ACC honors three or more times.

Now with his aim to top the amateur ranking, Ford has come close with his highest ranking of third in World Amateur Golf Ranking. The 22-year-old has even represented the United States at multiple events, including the Walker Cup, Palmer Cup, World Amateur Team Championship, and Eisenhower Trophy.
Personal life of David Ford
The American professional loves the course even other than being a part of the event. His favorite vacation spot is somewhere on a golf course. Though his love for the sport is unmatched, the rest of his preference has a variety. Apart from golf, he likes to play ping-pong. Even on his social media, he was seen playing with his friends.

Following on to his preference list, the golfer prefers sushi over other dishes, while his playlist tops with Christian music. Apart from golf, he follows A.J. Griffin of the Atlanta Hawks, and in golf, his top pick is Webb Simpson. Even when asked by his college, he shared about his dream round where the top picks were Simpson, William Kane, and his brother Maxwell.
The support system of David Ford
In the year 2002, Karen and Patrick Ford became parents of triplets having two sons and one daughter. Along with David Ford, Maxwell Ford, and Abigail Ford. Despite being twins, David Ford is the only one who plays with left hand. Patrick Ford, father of David Ford, played golf at Georgia State University. His brother played two seasons at Georgia as well. However, after the two seasons, he transferred to UNC and played with David Ford.

Other than the family’s support, Ford has Chris Moore as his swing coach and guide for his professional journey. He was seen with the coach at the PGA Tour in 2023, where the coach shared an instance about brothers caring for each other.
The 22-year-old amateur will be turned pro in May 2025, after his appearance at the Dubai Desert Classic. After the first round tied for first place, which might give other professionals a reality check from an amateur.
