Corey Shaun has been playing golf since his school days, and at the age of 28, people are finally getting to know him. From playing golf for his collegiate team to playing on the Korn Ferry Tour, and then on the DP World Tour, he now aims to make it to the PGA Tour. He has created history at the 2024 Q-School event by scoring an impressive opening round of 9-under. Before he makes his dream come true, here is all you need to know about the golfer.

Corey Shaun was born on October 14, 1996, in Downers Grove, Illinois. His parents are Liam Shaun and Norman Shaun. The 28-year-old also has an older sister whose name is Wendy Shaun. Not much is known about him and his family members.

He has only one picture with his father, of back when he was a kid, which was a throwback picture. On December 27, 2013, Corey Shaun wished his father a happy birthday by sharing the picture and wittily enough in the caption wrote, “Happy birthday, Dad.  Thanks for feeding me #tbt #mickeymousesweater“.

While Corey Shaun has huge support from his family, he also has an exceptionally loving girlfriend. Corey Shaun is dating Michelle Scott, someone who is poles apart from him. She is a TikTok star and boasts a whopping 78.2K followers on Instagram. While how the couple met is not known to the world, she is among the few people who have made an appearance on his profile.

In December 2020, the couple also went on a holiday together, and Shaun shared how grateful he was to have her in his life. Last year, on September 25, they celebrated her birthday together, and Shaun jokingly wrote, Happy birthday to the fantastic gf! Congrats on being worthy of the yearly IG post.” They sure have a fun relationship and like to roast each other it seems!

The family then moved to Encinitas, California. He even has a separate story highlight on his Instagram account that is marked with a home emoji, where he shares all his activities from California.

He went to UCLA and pursued a major in economics from 2014 to 2018. It was in his college that he played golf actively for the team. He was part of UCLA’s men’s varsity golf team and was also part of the Bruin Athletic Council. He chose the college because of its prestige and incredible combination of athletics and academics.

Corey Shaun has had an impressive junior golf career, highlighted by three AJGA victories: the 2010 Junior All-Star at Chateau Elan (74-71-72—217), the 2011 AJGA Genesis Junior (69-68-65—202, -14), and the 2013 AJGA Junior Challenge at Oak Valley (69-68-68—205, -11). He earned recognition as a 2011 and 2013 AJGA Honorable Mention Rolex All-American and was named a 2013 AJGA HP Scholastic All-American. At UCLA, he played in a total of seventeen events, concluding fifty-one rounds. Out of which he had no wins, two top-10 finishes, four top-20 finishes, and nine under-par rounds. His average was 74.8 in three years.

Corey Shaun’s journey into professional golf

Corey Shaun turned professional in March 2018 and played for the PGA Tour Series China for almost two years. In September 2021, he played on the Korn Ferry Tour for a year and a half. His first professional victory came on the Forme Tour in August. Celebrating his win, he wrote on Instagram, “What an incredible week winning on the Forme Tour! It was an awesome week shooting -26 for 4 days (66-62-67-67) and tying the Tour record for a low 4-day total! Hugely appreciative of everyone who made this tournament possible, all the support I’ve gotten, and my dad for caddying all 4 days. We did it!!”

In 2021, with the season’s end, he also finished second on the list of the Forme Tour and graduated from the Korn Ferry Tour at the same time. “Started this year with a lot of uncertainty, having no guaranteed starts and playing Monday qualifiers, to reshuffling halfway through the season, and finishing strong the last three weeks with a win, a solo 2nd, and a T4. Very honored and thankful for Forme, the PGA Tour staff, and countless others who have contributed to this tour and professional golfers. We’re now one step away from the PGA Tour,” he wrote.

2024 is going amazing for him too. For eight straight weeks, he has been playing golf worldwide, including making it through @dpworldtour Q-School and playing in Australia the week before the Second Stage. Now his only hope is to grab a win at the Q-school this year. Do you think he will be able to do it? Stay tuned to find out.
