In the world of golf, breaking through the ranks and establishing a name is often as challenging as the sport itself. For many, including Carson Young, the journey isn’t merely about swinging clubs; it’s about carving out a legacy.
Growing up in Anderson, South Carolina, Young didn’t have the usual “golf family” start. His love for the game happened almost by accident. He was a competitive tennis kid at first, with brothers and cousins on the court. But across from those tennis courts, he’d spot the golf course and couldn’t help but beg his parents to let him try it. By the age of seven, with help from a local pro, Harvey Brock at Boscobel Golf Club, he picked up golf quickly and even won his first tournament. That victory hooked him for life.
Fast forward to today. Young now plays on the PGA Tour. He turned professional in 2017. Although he hasn’t had any victories on the Tour so far, he’s had some solid finishes, like his T5 at the 2024 John Deere Classic and a strong eighth place at the 2024 Mexico Open. Recently, he placed 11th at the Black Desert Championship in Utah, showing that he’s on the rise. But as with many pros, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing.

Out of 63 events, he’s made it to the weekend 31 times, meaning about half the time he’s in the mix. This has helped him earn $2,951,481 from the Tour. Currently, Young ranks 113th in the FedExCup standings with 346 points, which puts him in a critical position as he looks ahead to 2025. Statistically, Carson’s doing great off the tee; he’s one of the best in accuracy and greens in regulation, which is helping him stay competitive.
Securing a PGA Tour card is no easy feat. There are a few ways to get there: finish in the top 125 of the FedExCup standings, end up in the top 25 on the Korn Ferry Tour, or push through the tough rounds of Q-School. Each path has its challenges, and Carson Young is giving it his all to secure his place among the PGA Tour’s best for 2025. Right now, Young’s standing in the FedExCup rankings suggests he’s on track for that elusive card, but he’ll need a strong finish to the season to lock it in.
Carson went to Clemson University and resides in Anderson, SC. He was born on November 12, 1994. There is a lot more to know about him as he lives a full life beyond the greens.
Carson Young’s life when not competing
While Carson has been working hard on his game, his life off the course has also played a major role in keeping him grounded. Married to Riley, a fellow golfer he met back in high school nearly nine years ago, Carson has a family dynamic that is as supportive as it is inspiring.

The couple lives in a home about 500 yards from Riley’s parents’ house in Pendleton, a small town in Anderson. Riley’s family is rooted in this area, making it the perfect place for Carson and Riley to lay down roots, even if their initial home-buying plans were a bit out of reach in nearby Greenville.

“I travel out to Clemson, which is a 20-minute drive away, to practice with the team and at their facility, or I’ll play most of my golf right in Greenville… it’s about a 30-minute drive there,” said Young. “I’m right in between, and it’s perfect for us and our setup.”
And now, the Youngs are preparing for an exciting new chapter as they are expecting a child. The couple revealed that they are having a daughter. The couple also has a golden retriever together named Opie who they love very much.
