Carlos Ortiz must be on cloud nine! The LIV Golf player just lifted the trophy of the International Series Oman by defeating fellow LIV Golf players Louis Oosthuizen and Joaquin Niemann. He had a four-stroke lead to win this prestigious event. And accompanying him through all this was his trusted caddie.

While the career of the Mexican golfer shines bright, not much is known about the caddie of the LIV Golf player. Let’s take a look at the bagman of Ortiz, who accompanied him while he switched to LIV Golf.

The Mexican golfer played on the PGA Tour before the breakaway league. His trusted caddie, Mike Kerr, was alongside him through both. The two of them have been together since 2021. The two of them were first spotted together at the PGA Championship on Kiawah Island.

Before joining Ortiz, Kerr used to caddie for Sergio Garcia. As for the Mexican golfer, he had Eduardo Castiello as his bagman for the longest time. Furthermore, he was briefly joined by Rueben Yorio in 2021. But that year, Ortiz found Kerr, and they have been together ever since.

Mike Kerr is from Zimbabwe and has a long list of professional players he has caddied for. Along with Garcia, some other notable names he has been with are Ernie Els, Lee Westwood, Adam Scott, and Thorbjorn Olesen.

When Carlos Ortiz moved over to LIV Golf in 2022, he did not forget to take Kerr along with him. Talking about this move, the Mexican golfer was pleased with the treatment his caddie was getting.

While playing in LIV Golf Bedminster, the Mexican golfer was quite pleased with the way caddies were treated. He said, The way we get treated, the way the caddies get treated, they get treated like persons, like normal people. They can eat with us and get in the locker room, where on the other Tour they couldn’t,” he said.

This goes on to show he was pleased by the treatment LIV Golf was giving to his bagman. Maybe this is the reason why his caddie, Mike Kerr, has stayed alongside Carlos Ortiz all these years.
