Caleb Surratt’s father was a professional long-drive player. That gave him access to a variety of drivers in his dad’s garage. Curiosity turned into passion as Surratt picked up the driver at a young age and hasn’t let go of it since. So it didn’t come as a surprise when the Indian Trail native showed signs of stardom from an early age.

At around 17 years of age, Caleb Surratt had already won a place in his first major event. However, the 2021 Ryder Cup had to be canceled due to the ongoing pandemic. That didn’t deter him as he marched on to bigger goals. He finished as a runner-up in the 2022 U.S. Junior Amateur to the 17-year-old Chinese player, Wenyi Ding. But he was still able to rise to the no. 1 world amateur ranking according to Data Golf Amateur Ranking.

Around the same time, Caleb Surratt also enrolled at the University of Tennessee to pursue his education and golf. According to his university profile, he had a great first year in the men’s golf team as he played in 11 tournaments with an average score of 69.58.

In 2023, Surratt got his first taste of victory in a team. He was selected for the US Walker Cup team and he won 3 out of the 4 rounds he played in the tournament. His efforts helped Team US gain victory in the tournament with a 14.5 – 11.5 score against Great Britain. Not long after, Caleb Surrat won his first individual title at the 2023 SEC Championship. He became the first freshman to win the title since Justin Thomas in 2012.

In between these performances, Caleb Surrat had also made three appearances in the PGA Tour. His best performance came at the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship where he finished T65. Surratt didn’t make the cut in the other two PGA Tour events.
