That’s what Todd Anderson, one of the United States’ top golf instructors, has done. With a career spanning over two decades, Anderson has earned a reputation as a transformational guru. Notably, his impressive resume boasts an array of accolades, including the 2010 PGA National Teacher of the Year award. This recognition underscores his expertise and dedication to the sport.

Currently, Anderson serves as the Director of Instruction at the PGA Tour’s Performance Center at TPC Sawgrass. In this role, he has worked with golfers from all walks of life—from aspiring amateurs to seasoned pros—and everyone in between. For Billy Horschel, finding Todd Anderson was more than just finding a coach—it was gaining a mentor, a confidant, and a lifelong friend. Their story began in the fall of 2008 when Horschel was on the cusp of graduating from the University of Florida as an All-American talent. His coach, Buddy Alexander, who nurtured Horschel’s growth, knew that his disciple needed someone to guide him through the professional ranks. He then recommended three potential coaches. 

But fate had other plans, as Horschel only needed to meet one. “I was the first one he came to see, and he didn’t go see the other two,” Anderson recalled with a smile. “We’ve been working together ever since.” That meeting marked the beginning of a beautiful partnership. Anderson’s unwavering dedication and genuine care resonated deeply with Horschel.

Anderson recalled their relationship with gratitude, “He takes care of me like I’m a family member. He’ll pick you up on the way to the course, whatever it is. If he hears I have to take a shuttle to the course, he’ll say, ‘No, I’ll just come by and get you.’ It might be a mile or two out of his way, but he’s going to drive by and pick you up so you don’t have to take the shuttle in.”
