With just a week left, the golfing world is in the grips of Solheim Cup fever. As we anticipate the arrival of the best women’s golfers to the show, let’s take a leaf out of the Oscars’ playbook and ask: who are they wearing? Let’s also learn all there is to know about Dunning Golf.
The LPGA announced in August that Dunning Golf will be providing the clothing gear for Team USA. This will be the second year running that the performance-focused clothing brand will be providing the uniforms for Team USA in the Solheim Cup.
In a press release, the LPGA described the clothing brand as “the most performance-driven and innovative brand in the game for men and women” and said that the designers at Dunning worked closely with Team U.S. Captain Stacy Lewis and Assistant Captain Morgan Pressel to design the uniforms. Dunning Golf was founded in 2001 by Toronto native Ralph Dunning and gained enormous popularity for releasing a high-performance collection filled with performance fabrics. It became known for its sophisticated and clean design and athletically suited fabrics.
Having been in the golf apparel world for a number of years, the products are priced higher than the average brand but are not luxury brands. Golfers have taken a liking to them for many years for their fit, breathability, comfort, and aesthetics.

In 2011, they were acquired by Tharanco Lifestyles, a large company known for being in the apparel industry for many years. New York-based Tharanco Lifestyles, run by Haresh Tharani and Michael J. Setola, owns several brands such as Joseph A and Hi-Tec, as well as the Greg Norman Collection. Haresh Tharani himself is also an avid golfer and would know what is needed on the golf course, just like the players themselves, whose opinions and comfort matter most.

Players such as Lexi Thompson, Rose Zhang, and Andrea Lee have praised the clothing. Thompson said, “The material is super giving and I love it. Super comfortable. And it’s fashionable”. Each set is designed as a nod to a branch of the military in hopes of inspiring the patriotism of the golfers. Captain Morgan Pressel said, “What we’ve done is a nod to the military and that’s really important.” The Air Force-inspired tee comes with feather patterns on a blue fabric, while others come with stripes and block colors.
It certainly looks very clean and inspiring, and the players seem to be very happy with it. But will it convert to results on the course? We will have to wait to see it next week.
