There are moments where golf witnesses the rise of talented players in the game. They are able to rise up through a huge amount of hard work. And now, similarly, we see Beau Hossler showcasing his talent in a grand way.

The professional has managed to turn many heads with an amazing performance at the Zozo Championship, making easy work of the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club. Although he doesn’t have any professional wins, he boasts seven victories in his amateur career. It is quite natural that many would not be able to recognize him on the greens. The American was born to Beau Hossler Sr., and Amy Balsz on March 16, 1995. He spent his younger days in Rancho Santa Margarita, California and graduated from a catholic high school in his hometown. In the year 2013, he started going to the University of Texas for his college education on a golf scholarship.

He was introduced to the game of golf at a young age, allowing him to start his career earlier than most. An amazing performance as an amateur helped him to stay a cut above others in the game. Moreover, adding to his achievements, Hossler was able to play his first major at the age of 16 in the 2011 US Open.

Although the golfer couldn’t make the cut on his first try, he managed to finish at T29 during his second appearance in the major the following year. The athlete achieved the feat at just 17 years old while in Santa Margarita High Catholic High School. In an interview with Golf Digest, the American went on to speak on the same as he said, “it’s helped me with exposure for sure. But the biggest challenge has been to make sure that doesn’t become the defining moment of my golf career.”

Before turning professional in 2016, the 28-year-old did have a stunning career as an amateur golfer.

The amazing amateur career of Hossler

The athlete has a total of seven victories under his name as an amateur. Some of his triumphs include the 2010 Trader Joe’s Junior Championship, the 2011 Callaway Junior World Golf Championships (boys 15–17), the 2012 Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic, and the 2013 Southern California Amateur, among others.

At the 2016 NCAA Championship, the amateur suffered a tear in the labrum situated in the left shoulder during the middle of a semifinal match. The unfortunate injury occurred just two days before he turned pro and a day before the final. The major health issue forced Hossler out of the game, taking him as long as six months to get back on track. However, this occurrence did lead to a new rule being made in college golf under his name.

A new regulation called the Beau Hossler Rule came into being after the whole semifinal event. The directive allowed teams to substitute an injured player for another golfer during the match play session at the NCAA Championships. Even though his name was used for it, the 2015 John Hayt Collegiate Invitational champ was not a big fan of the same as he said, “There’s a slippery slope with how it’s set up. A coach can basically claim anything to be an injury and swap out a player who’s not playing well.”

Well, such an upright person would sooner or later find his footing on the course and leave a mark. However in order to do the same, the professional needs a pillar of support, both on and off the greens. He appears to have it off the course for sure.
