Matthieu Pavon is not the only Frenchman turning heads in the golf world. Add the name Antoine Rozner to that list as well. Both had similar backgrounds: years of toiling on the Challenge Tour and developmental tours. While Pavon has traveled Stateside and made a splash in his first full season, Rozner is still far from reaching that spot.

But the Frenchman, a three-time winner on the DP World Tour, holds the course record at the Adriatic Golf Cub Cervia, thanks to his moving day 62 that gave him a shot at the title for a few moments at the 2024 Italian Open. Breaking records is a habit he incurred early on in his life and continued to do so throughout his career.

Rozner was born on February 12, 1993, to Claude and Laurence Rozner. Not much is known about his parents, except that Claude was the early influence behind his son’s love for golf. Rozner showed flair quite early in his career. In 2006, he helped his school, Lycee Jean de la Fontaine, clinch the under-17 French Championship. Three years later, he was part of the team that finished runner-up.

In 2011, Rozner finished 3rd at the Doral Publix Championship, a renowned junior event in the United States. At that time, Rozner and his brother were both trying to make their mark. His older brother, Olivier, was also a professional golfer but drew a curtain on his career quite early.

The two Rozner siblings charted their own course

Olivier Rozner registered his victory at the Pro Golf Tour, the Germany-based feeder tour of the Challenge Tour. In 2015, then-25-year-old Olivier edged past Anton Kirstein in the Adamstal Open playoff. In Flashscore, his last recorded tournament was the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge in 2018. Between 2013 and 2018, the Frenchman recorded 15 top-10s.

Since then, the 35-year-old has moved to coaching. Currently, Olivier is a golf coach at the Golf de La Boulie at the Racing Club de France. He is available at the club every day between Monday and Sunday, except Thursday.

Is Antoine Rozner the next big thing in golf, or just another flash in the pan?

Most recently, pairing up with his friend, Antoine Schwartz, a putting coach, he won the French Teachers Doubles Champion 2024. When Olivier was plying his trade on the Pro Golf Tour and Challenge Tour, his brother traveled to the USA and broke a few records at the University of Missouri–Kansas City.

Antoine Rozner has had a spectacular journey on the top-tier European Tour

It is safe to say that expectations were high when he arrived at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. He delivered quite early. Rozner was named the Summit League Newcomer of the Championship as a freshman.

The very next year, Rozner netted a 73.56 stroke average, the fourth-best in the annals of Roors. In 2014–15, the Frenchman improved that with a 71.19 scoring average, which at that time was the lowest in the school’s history. Rozner’s best season was yet to come, however.

Next year, Rozner broke his own record with a scoring average of 70.49 over 37 rounds. In fact, that was also the ninth-lowest in the NCAA. The low scores brought him four silverware, including the Mark Simpson Invitational and Price’s “Give ‘em5” Invitational. In the latter, then-22-year-old Rozner carded 63, a record in UMKC history. Rozner topped that by winning four matches in the 2016 Arnold Palmer Cup, representing his country.

After high school, Rozner turned heads at the Challenge Tour, a feeder for the DP World Tour, after winning back-to-back tournaments with a combined 11-stroke margin. On the European Tour, Rozner is the fastest Frenchman to win twice. Since then, Antoine Rozner has netted another victory on his home tour. The victory came after more than a year-long title drought. But it was made special because of a very special person’s presence.

What do we know about Rozner’s personal life?

Rozner was getting the vibes when he landed in Mauritius. It was late December, the last event of the calendar year, and Rozner had his girlfriend with him. “Guys come here to enjoy themselves after the round; disconnect from golf. My girlfriend is with me as well, so it is a really nice way to finish the year, so I am really excited,” he told DP World Tour before the first tee.

72 holes later, Rozner was at the end of a grueling victory. Speaking to the DP World Tour afterward, he could hardly hold back his tears. There were moments when he slipped the lead or made a bad shot, and the thoughts of returning to his girlfriend with a dejected face crossed his mind. Eventually, it was the happy tears that followed. Rozner was pictured lifting the trophy, his third on Tour, with his girlfriend.

However, not much is known about their relationship. The couple preferred to keep their day-to-day lives private. They vacationed in the coastal commune of La Teste-de-Buch in 2021. Since then, updates on their love lives have been rare. Rozner rather wants to keep the social media focus on his on-course activities.
