Is Antoine Rozner the next big thing in golf, or just another flash in the pan?

Antoine Rozner was born in Paris, France, on February 12, 1993, to Claude and Laurence Rozner. While his parents prefer to keep their lives private, he credits his mother’s support for his knack for golf. His mother was a golf player who got him started at a young age. He shares his passion for the sport with his older brother, Olivier, a professional golfer before transitioning to a coaching role at Golf de La Boulie at the Racing Club de France.

With his brother’s help, he had shown a glimpse of performances, as he puts it, “My brother helped me a lot when I first decided to turn pro. He played as a professional for seven years, which included on the Challenge Tour for a few years.” Rozner attended Lycée Jean-de-La-Fontaine in Paris, located near several prominent sports facilities such as the Parc des Princes and Roland-Garros. Known for its strong academics and diverse sports and cultural programs, the high school likely played a significant role in his athletic development.

During his high school career, Rozner recorded two top-five finishes as a sophomore, three as a junior, and seven as a senior. He also helped his team secure the under-17 French Championship in 2006 and a runner-up finish in 2009. After completing high school, Rozner moved to the United States for college to further his career.

Taking his next step towards the amateur’s

Rozner chose the University of Missouri-Kansas City for his further studies. During his college career from 2012 to 2016, he won six individual titles and was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year. As a freshman, he was named the Summit League Newcomer of the Championship. In 2013, he achieved a 73.56 stroke average, the fourth-best in the annals of Roos history.

In 2016, he broke his record with a scoring average of 70.49 over 37 rounds, which was the ninth-lowest in the NCAA. These low scores earned him four titles, including the Mark Simpson Invitational, where he carded a record-breaking 63.

Rozner ended his studies with the lowest career average in school history at 72.85. In 2016, he represented his nation in the Eisenhower Trophy and earned an invitation to the 2016 Arnold Palmer Cup, where he won all four matches. This success paved the way for his professional career.

Rozner’s thrive for excellence!

After graduating, Rozner turned towards the Challenge Tour, a feeder for the DP World Tour. He won back-to-back tournaments with a combined 11-stroke margin and turned professional in 2016. He made 116 appearances in various tournaments, eventually achieving his first DP World Tour event win at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in December 2018, finishing T-7 with a score of 14 under par 288.

In 2020, Rozner secured his first full DP World Tour card and has since won three times on the European Tour, including the Golf in Dubai Championship in 2020 and the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in 2021. After his first DP World Tour win, “So many feelings. I’ve been close twice this year in Mauritius and in Valderrama, I couldn’t close it out, so I’m just very happy with how I played this week and especially today,” Rozner said while having an emotional burst.

Moreover, he celebrated a notable victory on December 18, 2022, at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at Mont Choisy Le Golf. “I have a lot of good memories here [in Mauritius],” said Rozner. “I played my very first professional event here, my first experience on the DP World Tour was in Mauritius, and in 2020 I lost in a play-off, so I have a lot of really good memories here.”

Rozner has a close bond with his partner, Alice Bongart, whom he started dating back in 2012. Although details of their dating life or marriage are not public, Alice is often seen supporting him at his games. Beyond golf, the pro golfer is an avid football fan, wholeheartedly supporting PSG and attending their matches whenever his schedule allows.
