At age three, Andrew Novak caught a golf ball tossed by Carl Pettersson during a collegiate event. That moment sparked a lifelong passion for golf, nurtured by his parents Ralph and Sarah in their hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. Now, at 29, Novak has transformed from a teenage range assistant into a rising PGA Tour professional, recently achieving his career-best world ranking of 120th.
Growing up in North Carolina, Novak balanced academics and athletics at Academic Magnet High School before heading to Wofford College. There, he excelled on the course with four tournament victories and found love, meeting his future wife, Maddie. Between tournaments, he even managed to claim an unlikely title—the 2017 Wofford Intramural Basketball champion.
As Novak took his first steps into professional golf, each challenge shaped his evolution from collegiate star to Tour professional.

From amateur golfer to Tour professional
His resilience shone through during the 2020-21 Korn Ferry Tour season, where he bounced back from seven missed cuts to achieve five consecutive top-10 finishes. The breakthrough came in February 2020 at the LECOM Suncoast Classic on the Korn Ferry Tour, where Novak claimed his first professional victory. This win, celebrated with his family present, opened the door to the PGA Tour through the 2021 Korn Ferry Tour Finals.
His game-changing moment on the Tour came at the WM Phoenix Open in February 2024, where he claimed his first 36-hole lead. While others faltered under pressure, Novak’s steady hand and precise shot-making led to an eighth-place finish, earning respect from fellow competitors. This performance kick-started a remarkable run, including three consecutive top-10 finishes across spring.

He showed carried same perseverance in the PGA Tour career, where he maintained a remarkable 68.8% cut-making rate in the 2024 season while balancing his tournament schedule with teaching golf clinics to junior players.
With his exempt status secured through 2025 and sitting 89th in the FedExCup standings, Novak’s trajectory points toward continued success. His runner-up finish at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship suggests a maiden PGA Tour victory might be just around the corner.
While Novak’s professional achievements tell one story, his life outside the ropes reveals a personality far beyond golf.

Away from the course, Novak’s personality shines through diverse interests. His competitive spirit extends beyond golf, as evidenced by his memorable appearance on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays in 2016, where he holed a spectacular 100-foot putt. As a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan, he often schedules practice rounds around important baseball games, showing his passion for America’s pastime.
Superstition plays a role in his game too—Novak never tees off without his lucky coin as a ball marker, a ritual that’s followed him from his college days. At home in St. Simons Island, Georgia, he and Maddie spend their downtime with their beloved poodle Teddy, who’s become something of a social media star among golf fans.
