The golf world has seen a lot of important tournaments take place over the years. But none has ever reached the level of the Ryder Cup, which pits the players on the golf course against two teams in a run for honor and glory. The event is extra special as it is a competition between the golfers as well as the two nations.

In order for an event to happen, a lot of help is required in the form of finance, among others. And an event like the Ryder Cup, although it does not offer any prize money for the players or the winners, is especially so as it needs special support in the guise of sponsorships and other forms of assistance. Well, it makes one curious, doesn’t it?

The Ryder Cup, established in 1927, is one of the most watched events in the world of golf, if not the whole of sports. Such an event is nothing short of a big, complex operation. Therefore, it is imperative that one knows the most important members of the big commercial family. The worldwide partners of the event include Aon, BMW, Capgemini, Citi, DP World, Hilton, and Rolex.

Aon and Ryder Cup, in 2020, announced a multi-year agreement that confirmed the former as a worldwide partner of the event. Moreover, the partnership added yet another level of excitement to the competition as it focused on the ‘risk-reward’ narrative authentic to the Cup, the Nicklaus-Jacklin Award. It is presented by the former to the golfer, who represents the spirit of the Ryder Cup best, portraying the best problem-solving skills on and off the course.

BMW and its link with the esteemed competition began in 2006 after it became the official car partner at the event held at K Club in Ireland. The alliance has since grown stronger in both nations as it took on the role of an official partner in 2010, 2014, and 2018. Following the year’s competition, the commitment that the car company had towards the Cup strengthened with the announcement of the former becoming a global partner of the latter for the matches in 2021 and 2023.

Capgemini announced the start of its six-year partnership with the team competition in September 2021, moving from the role of a global supplier to a worldwide partner for the next three editions of the event. Following the announcement, Citi, the global bank in 2023, became a part of the family to become a partner and the Official Financial Services Partner through the year 2025.

Many benefits are set in place for Citi cardmembers, including discounts on merchandise and concessions at the event at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club. Moreover, the bank would be the presenting partner of Ryder Cup Radio, covering the play over the days and providing the audience with a one-of-a-kind experience. If such benefits are being offered through the partners, it makes one curious as to what the rest have in store!

The Ryder Cup Worldwide Partners: DP World, Hilton, and Rolex

DP World, the Dubai-based logistics company, confirmed their cooperation in July 2023. The title sponsors of the European Tour are set to focus on providing a seamless delivery of the event by combining their passion for the sport with the company’s smart logistics. Moreover, the organization will also look to enhance the experience of the fans through initiatives, including but not limited to the DP World’s ‘second life’ golf ball container in the Ryder Cup fan village.

Hilton joined the list of members to become a part of the Ryder Cup, allowing it to gain significant on-course branding and exposure during the event in 2023. Moreover, the partner will also launch a fan experience of sorts, named ‘A Stay on the Green by Hilton’, which will be made available to their loyal members. Under the program, the fans would be able to use their loyalty points and book a stay at a Hilton room by the 10th green of the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.

One of the partners of the European Tour, Rolex, signed a deal with the PGA of America in 2021 to expand its portfolio to three of its annual majors. This enabled the time company to elevate its status to that of a worldwide partner, along with the Official Timekeeper and the Presenting Partner of the weekly Ryder Cup Points Standings.

Other suppliers of the biennial event

The commercial family does not end with the various global alliances, as it encompasses a whole lot of other members who are nonetheless crucial to the tournament. The international suppliers of the event include aboutGOLF, Club Car, Elijah Craig, Moët & Chandon, Pepsico, Toro, and United Parcel Service.

Well, it stands to reason that such an event requires a huge amount of support to be delivered seamlessly to the audience and the players. And it can proudly take the tag of being a ‘royal’ event like no other, with the top players of the game duking it out against each other on the course in no less than an elegant fashion.
