The LPGA is hosting The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican event from November 9-12, which can be rightfully called the semi-final of the 2023 LPGA season. After that, the final event of the Ladies tour, the CME Tour Group Championship will be hosted in November.

This week is very important for The ANNIKA golfers, as it not only offers tickets for the finale but will also describe the fate of some players for next year. For several golfers who are on the borderline and stand the chance of losing their ticket for 2023, the second week of November is the ultimate test.

This has been a challenging season on the LPGA Tour. While a few big names like Michelle Wie West retired, big names like Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, and others were struggling. Now that the finals are here, some names are in the danger zone and praying for a spot for next year. But there are some big names on this list, too.

The first player is Lydia Ko. After having had a terrific year in 2022, this year, Ko fell into a slump, which she has even publicly recognized. This year she has made only two Top 10 finishes. One was at the Honda LPGA Thailand and another at the BMW Ladies Championship. Though she has earned no CME points this year, thankfully she will maintain her status for 2024 due to her 2022 wins.

Next is Lucy Li, who hasn’t scored any CME points. The 21-year-old amateur has only delivered one good T-18 finish at the LA Open. And from July to September 2023, she missed six cuts. Gainbridge is her last chance to stay on LPGA. Otherwise, she will have to go back to the LPGA Q Series.

A surprising name on this list is Stacy Lewis. Though she was the captain of Team US for the Solheim Cup, Lewis made only one Top 10 finish at the Dow Great Lakes on T6. She hasn’t even made the cut in her last five attempts. With 83 CME points, Stacy needs to bring her A-game to Pelican.

Solheim Cup participants face the danger, too

Another name is Sweden Madelene Sagstrom, who has recently made her Ryder Cup appearance. With 57 CME points, she is now safe. However, she is fighting on the borderline, as she could be ousted by the above-mentioned and other players. If she maintains her rank, she could play in the Tour Championship.

For Andrea Lee, her five consecutive Top 13 finishes helped her big time in gaining 56 CME points. However, like Sagstrom, she is on the edge, too. Doing well at The ANNIKA will not just be for the money but so much more. The top player will earn 100 CME points as well. Also, the players who stay in the Top 60 after this will play in the Tour Championship as well.
