Peter Uihlein was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on August 29, 1989. His parents, Wally Uihlein and Tina Uihlein, raised him to be the amazing person he is today. His father Wally is the former CEO and President of the Acushnet Company. It is the parent company of many golf brands like Titleist, Pinnacle, and Scotty Cameron. This explains Uihlein’s loyalty towards Titleist and Scotty Cameron for his golf kit. That’s where he made most of his wealth. He announced his retirement from the position on January 1, 2018. However, he still remains as an advisor in the board.
Wally Uihlein completed his education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He completed post-graduation courses in business management from Suffolk University located in Boston. He soon joined the sales team of Acushnet and started his journey in the company. He was a part of the company for more than 40 years before he announced his retirement.
Wally has left a lasting impact on the golf community. Many of his former associates at Acushnet have spoken fondly of him and acknowledged his vital contributions to the company. Being a part of the golf equipment industry, there is no doubt Wally motivated his son, Peter Uihlein to pursue the sport as a career.
But Peter Uihlein’s father doesn’t deserve all the credit for his inclination towards golf. The pro golfer’s mother, Tina Uihlein was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. However, she spent a large proportion of her life in Mattapoisett. According to reports, Tina was a top amateur player during her youth. She won the 1974 Middle Atlantic Girls Junior Championship during her time in golf. Tina was also a finalist at the 1977 Maryland State Women’s Amateur.

Fans might not know that Tina Uihelein’s younger brother and Peter Uihlein’s uncle, Gary Marlowe was also a golfer. He was no ordinary golfer as well as Gary had quite an accomplished golfing career. He won the Maryland State Golf Association’s 1978 Open Championship. He was only an amateur golfer when he achieved this feat. Gary also has a few other big victories to his name in the amateur circuit.

Peter Uihlein’s wife, Chelsea Uihelein, formerly known as Chelsea Gates, is also affiliated with sports. Before pursuing a career in yoga, Chelsea used to work as a sports anchor and host. Her career in yoga has also proved to be fruitful as she has created a successful company called CruYoga.fit.
