The LPGA star was born to Judy Thompson and Scott Thompson on February 10, 1995. She was born in Coral Springs, Florida, and showed an interest in golf from her early days. It was her father, Scott Thompson, who introduced young Lexi to the game of golf. She has time and again thanked her father for doing so.

The LPGA star began golfing at the age of 5, and she began showcasing her natural talents in the game. Looking at her interest in golf, her parents decided to home school her so she could devote her time to the holistic sport. The young star used to spend most of her time practicing during childhood. Her father used to accompany her at tournaments as a caddie, which he didn’t stop doing even after she turned pro.

On one hand, her father taught her the fine details of the game. But on the other hand, her mother, Judy Thompson, taught her mental fortitude. Lexi Thompson’s mother acted as a pillar of support for her. She was diagnosed with breast cancer when the LPGA star was eleven years old. But she advised her daughter to follow her dreams instead of worrying about her.

Following this, Thompson became the youngest player to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open as a 12-year-old. But back in 2017, Judy was diagnosed again with uterine cancer. Again, she did not let this major ailment come in between the career paths of her children. I want all my children to continue with what their dreams are,” the LPGA player’s mother said.

She also attended her daughter’s event at the US Women’s Open in July 2017, a month after her operation. Life can’t stop,” she added. Along with her parents, her two brothers have also helped the LPGA star throughout her career.

Thompson’s brothers played a huge role in her career

She has two elder brothers, Nicholas Thompson and Curtis Thompson. Both of them, like her, are professional golfers. The eldest of the bunch, Nicholas Thompson, turned pro in 2005 and joined the PGA Tour in 2006 and the Korn Ferry Tour in 2007. In his professional career, he has won the 2007 HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship, along with a 2005 Jones Cup Invitational win as an amateur.

Her second brother, Curtis Thompson, turned pro in 2014. The next year, he started playing on the Korn Ferry Tour. He earned the PGA Tour card in 2022 but failed to keep it because of disappointing performances. While both brothers themselves are professional golfers, they also helped their sister enhance her career.

Since she started golfing at 5 years old, her elder brothers and father have taught her everything. Her father was her bagman from the age of 9 until she turned 17. Lexi Thompson claimed her first-ever win, and her only major tournament win is her most cherished memory.

When asked the reason why, she said because her dad accompanied her, carrying her bag. Apart from her dad, her two brothers also accompanied her on the greens. Curtis caddied for her when she won the 2018 CME Group Tour Championship.

Furthermore, Nicholas Thompson helped prepare her for her first US Women’s Open in 2007. She was going to be the youngest player there. So her elder brother helped her in practice rounds. Even though Nicholas had a Nationwide Tour event that week, he first helped Lexi Thompson prepare, then went for his event.
