Corey Conners, the calm and collected Canadian, has built a reputation for consistency. Since turning pro in 2015, he’s quietly carved out an impressive career—two PGA Tour wins (both at the Valero Texas Open in 2019 and 2023), multiple Top 10 finishes, and a solid showing at the 2022 Masters. Not too shabby for a guy who prefers to let his game do the talking. And it’s no surprise he currently sits at 21st in the Official World Golf Ranking.

While Conners might be the one sinking the putts and lifting the trophies, he’s never walked this journey alone. Behind every great golfer is a strong support system—and Conners’s is as solid as they come.

Golf runs in Corey Conners’s blood

Corey Conners didn’t randomly pick up a golf club one day and fall in love with the sport—it was more of a family affair. Born and raised in the small town of Listowel, Ontario, he grew up surrounded by the game, thanks to his parents, Mike and Janet Conners. Both were golfers themselves, and it didn’t take long before Conners caught the bug.

Mike was a significant catalyst in teaching Conners’s game, and instead of overloading him with technique, he emphasized tempo and feel. That easy-going, rhythmic style? It comes straight from his dad. Last month, urged by Mike, Conners switched to a centre-shafted putter at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and it’s paid off. He finished third there, added two more top-10s, and opened the Masters with a 4-under 68, sinking five birdie putts from an average of 10 feet.

As for his mom, Janet might stay out of the spotlight, but her presence has been just as important. A quiet, steady support system that helped lay the foundation for everything Conners’s achieved so far. But they aren’t the only ones cheering him on through thick and thin—he has had another constant supporter by his side for years now.

From high-school sweethearts to life partners

Corey and Malory Conners have one of those love stories that feels straight out of a feel-good sports movie. The two first met back in high school, started dating soon after, and never looked back. They got married in 2018, and since then, Malory has become a familiar face at PGA Tour events—often seen right behind the ropes, cheering Conners on every step of the way.

Have an interesting take?

She was right there when he won his first PGA Tour title in 2019, sprinting onto the green in celebration. And she was there again in 2023 when he repeated the magic at the same tournament. Conners has often said she’s his biggest fan and constant supporter—and it shows. “She’s been my biggest fan for years and my biggest supporter. I’m really lucky to have her by my side,” he said.

These days, they live in Jupiter, Florida (the unofficial hub of pro golfers), and in 2021, they became parents to their daughter, Reis. Malory, who studied education at Wilfrid Laurier University, used to be a teacher but now travels full-time with Conners, continuing to be his constant in a life that’s always on the move. While his family and wife hold it down off the course, Conners’s got another key figure walking right beside him during those tense tournament rounds.

The Men on the Bag: Danny Sahl and Herb Page

Behind every successful golfer is a caddie—and for Conners, that’s Danny Sahl. The two teamed up in early 2021, and it’s been a smooth ride ever since. Danny’s not just another guy carrying clubs. He’s a former pro himself, with almost a decade of playing experience, including a win on what’s now the PGA Tour Canada. Add to that years of caddying for golf legends like Vijay Singh and Mike Weir, and you’ve got a guy who brings ample know-how to the table.

What makes this partnership work so well is their history. Both Kent State grads, Conners and Danny, met years ago on the Korn Ferry Tour and instantly clicked. That easy chemistry has translated into some of Conners’s most consistent performances, with Danny offering strategic insight and steady guidance when it counts most.

Before the 2025 Masters, Herb Page, the renowned coach and audience member for golfers’ debut matches, contacted Taylor Pendrith and Corey Conners via texts –  “Hey, how about Thursday’s tee sheet? Herb Page, 9 a.m. Taylor Pendrith, 9:03 a.m. Corey Conners, 9:14 a.m.” The coach, at the hospital for his chemotherapy, couldn’t make it to Augusta this year, but he did watch the coverage. Conners, at T2 with a starting 68 on the three of the final holes, received another text from the coach that read, “Lookout!” for the solid competition from Scottie Scheffler (T2) and Ludvig Aberg (T2).

“He’s always watching us and always cheering us on,” said Conners. If he seems calm and motivated on the course, it’s because he’s got the kind of team most players dream of—supportive parents, a loving partner, and a caddie who just gets it. Together, they’re not just his cheer squad—they’re a big reason why he’s quietly becoming one of the most dependable names in golf.
