The entire golf world was taken aback on June 6 this year. In case you have forgotten, it was the day the PGA Tour announced its merger with Saudi-backed LIV Golf. The union worth $3 billion was kept under wraps by the higher-ups on both sides, an action that later gathered a lot of backlash from everyone. However, when the merger was announced, a lot of speculation around the Saudi PIF making its way to the LPGA Tour arose as well.

Lydia Ko, one of the most prestigious female golfers who is also LPGA Player Director, has now expressed her bold stance about the same, and it is a refreshing take as compared to what everyone has been saying or hearing.

The definite terms and conditions of the PGA Tour’s amalgamation with the Saudi League have not been decided yet. Despite not having all the minor details about the contract, there is a lot of information floating around about the merger and the impact it will have on golf. There has been information related to the PGA pros being rewarded for their loyalty to the PGA Tour in the initial phase of LIV Golf. But again, there is still no concrete information available about the contract or the terms it will have. The players of the PGAT are still searching for answers to their questions.

As golf enthusiasts and female golfers are gearing up for the LPGA Tour’s second major of the year worth $9 million, Lydia Ko has expressed what she thinks of the merger and its potential for the LPGA Tour. During her press conference, she was asked the question about LIV golf possibly making its way to the LPGA Tour, and this is what she said: “What happens is going to happen. We can’t worry about what’s not happened yet.”

Elaborating on her thoughts, she added that she had just about as much information about the merger as everybody else and that her main sources of knowledge about the merger have been the Golf Channel and Instagram. She said that, just like everybody else, she didn’t know what was happening. “Everything is up in the air,” she stated candidly.
