This week, the Ladies European Tour (LET) is hosting its flagship event in Asia, the Hero Women’s Indian Open. This will be the tournament’s 15th edition, and the field is decorated with star-studded players.

The event is being played at the DLF Golf and Country Club, Gurugram, from 19 – 22 October. It will be a mix of Indian players and foreign players who will be fighting for the $400,000 prize purse. And for Christine Wolf, this is an emotional comeback.

The Hero Women’s Indian Open is the only LET tournament that is hosted in India. This match not only brings international talent to the country’s platform but also gives the Indian players a chance to get exposure to the European Tour, which they otherwise don’t get. Aside from last year’s defending champion Olivia Cowan, also returning is 2019 winner Christine Wolf.

Wolf won the tournament at the same course in 2019 by sharing a final round score of 3 under 69 and three shots. It was her first win here, and reflecting on the memories, the 34-year-old said, “It’s so nice being back here. It almost feels like coming home. I feel really comfortable here and I had a really warm welcome when I arrived. It’s just so nice being back.”

Before engaging in an intense competition, Wolf also had some time to relax and engage with the fans. She said, “I love the food here and the people. They’re so happy and welcoming. It always feels like they enjoy having us back here. And of course, the food is amazing.”

The DLF Golf and Country Club, located in DLF5 in Gurgaon, is rated as the best golf course in India by the Asian Golf Awards in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, they awarded it the Order of Zenith. It was opened in 1999 as the first Arnold Palmer Signature course in India. The course is a scenic parkland design with a dramatic landscape enhanced by ambient lighting.

The parkland-style course hosted big tournaments like Asia’s premier event, the Johnnie Walker Classic, six editions of the Women’s Indian Open from 2007-12, three editions of the Avantha Masters from 2010–12, and many other events.
