When your performance affects the pride of your country, even the smallest error troubles the athletes. In an intensely competitive atmosphere, emotions are riding high all the time. And in all of those, we frequently see the players’ irate sides. Now that Europe has accomplished its Ryder Cup redemption, there were many moments in between where we saw the hosts’ stars just losing their temper.

The most famous moment that took center stage was that of the Northern Irishman, Rory McIlroy. His outburst in the parking lot on Saturday was a massive talking point. But in the midst of all this, another angry Irishman also had his fill of rage at the 2023 Ryder Cup.

Everyone in the golfing community is aware of Shane Lowry’s temper. His outburst at the 2015 Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open made the news. He has been seen blowing a fuse now and then on the golf course.

The interesting thing is that Lowry admits to occasionally losing his cool. ”That’s the kind of player I am, and I think it’s a part of what has me where I am today. Obviously, I need to calm it down a little bit at times; you can’t do stupid things like that.”

And now that Lowry had the opportunity to perform in the Ryder Cup, we could also anticipate some scenes involving him. Yes, you’re right. An angry Lowry returned to the playing field after all. In a video posted by Nuclr Golf, the 36-year-old golfer can be seen silencing the marshall around. He said, “You’re making more f—king noise than anyone else.”

Lowry lived up to his reputation, didn’t he? Now let’s relive McIlroy’s outburst that stunned the golf world.

Early celebration caused the major fiasco

Well, to jog your memory, on Day 2, Patrick Cantlay’s caddie Joe LaCava got into a celebratory mode after the hat-less Cantlay made an extraordinary putt in the last match of the fourball sessions. LaCava got carried away without realizing that McIlory was getting ready to make his putt.

The early celebration set McIlroy off, which resulted in an altercation on the green and afterward in the parking lot. McIlroy later reportedly also got involved with Justin Thomas‘ caddie, Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay in the parking lot. While Mackay was there, there is nothing solid to prove he was at the receiving end of the Northern Irishman’s angry shouts. Maybe he was!

Justin Rose humorously told everyone in the press conference later that boys are now dubbing Rory McIlroy “Rocky McIlroy.” What do you think about these incidents on the green? Let us know in the comments section below.
