While Brooks Koepka Summons His Inner Gladiator, Jena Sims Finally Puts a Wild Theory About Her Child to Rest

Brooks Koepka is on the edge at the moment due to the upcoming Ryder Cup. With his fate in the hands of Team America’s captain, Zach Johnson, there is not much he can do but wait. But amid this uncertainty, Koepka’s lovely wife, Jena Sims, is putting to rest another one of fans’ curiosities.

The couple’s bond is not hidden from the internet. Their friendship comes out beautifully as part of the love they share. A few weeks earlier, they brought their child home from the NICU care and rejoiced in the warm and fuzzy feeling of having a baby. But in the latest revelation, Sims cleared the air that her child’s name is not Blake. Ring any bells?

If you are an ardent follower of golf, you might have encountered the phrase, ‘Blake of the year’. Especially about Brooks Koepka. In her recent Instagram stories, his wife, Jena Sims, clarified what the phrase actually means. She called it the “no.1 question”.

She said, “What is Blake of the year? Who is Blake of the Year? Why do they call Brooks Blake? And is my child’s name Blake? So, I am going to answer these questions for you. It’s mostly for my friends because if you know, you know. But if you don’t know, you have no freaking clue.”

She answers the much-anticipated question, and you are not ready for the answer. “And correct me if I’m wrong, first question, Blake of the year. That is a contest that was started by Barstool Sports. The podcast is, pardon my take,” she said. Jena added that they were big fans of her husband, Brooks Koepka. And they adore them.

“Um, Blake of the Year was a contest, where initially [there were] Blake Bortles, Blake Griffin, and Brooks. Somehow, he got to be an honorary Blake, even though his legal name isn’t Blake.”

As part of the contest, the guys from the podcast call other’s mobiles, and whoever picks up first will be the Blake of the Year for one entire year. “It was quite that simple. But it really caught on.” Sims also revealed that in every golf tournament, the barstool fans would show up and scream ‘Blake’ after every single shot at Koepka. So they just got comfortable with it.

The YouTube video from May 2023 is a snippet from one such interaction with the guys from Pardon My Take. Blake Koepka was seriously on the table. However, the legal name of the baby is Crew Sims Koepka.

Jena further revealed in her story that it might have started in 2018 – 0ne of the years, Brooks Koepka also won it. He was upset that he lost the title this year to Blake Bortles. One year, Blake Griffin also had someone constantly holding his phone just because the contest circles around answering the phone.

Jena also revealed as part of a fun trivia that her child’s honorary nickname is Blake Koepka. In the video, a throwback of Brooks Koepka vowing to name his kid Blake was on the condition that he wins the major this year. And he did. He won the PGA Championship in May. Due to his early arrival, Brooks and Jena had to leave their baby in the hands of NICU nurses. He was six weeks premature and needed intensive care. And no matter how much we appreciate the healthcare staff, it will never be enough.

Assured that Crew was in safe hands, the new mom planned a way to show gratitude to those taking care of her baby and several others. And she involved her Instagram community in the act. She asked around for a perfect gift for NICU nurses.

One suggestion was to gift them Stanley Waters bottles and Starbucks gift cards. And Another excellent suggestion was self-care items. Jena expressed that the response was overwhelming and impressive. And soon, she also got to bring her baby boy home.
