The PGA Tour’s Latin American swing is underway, and all eyes are back on Vidanta Vallarta, the picturesque course in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The history of the Mexico Open goes back to 1944, but when it comes to its history with the golf course, it is relatively new (2022). And the tournament’s association with the PGA Tour? Just as new (2022). However, it was part of the PGA Tour Latinoamerica back in 2013. With such a long and rich history, it’s no wonder that between February 20 – February 23, 132 players will compete in the tournament, including some of the world’s top golfers.
The field will boost an impressive array of talent, with 5 of the top 50 players in the world, and 7 from the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking. The players will be competing for a grand prize of $7 million, with the winner taking home $1.26 million and 500 FedEx Cup points. That sounds exciting. Last year, Jake Knapp registered his first PGA Tour victory by winning the event. Although not a lot of top players will be playing this year, our keen eyes are still fixed on the event.
Well, how about we now take a look at the course our favorite golfers will be playing at?

Every golf course has some kind of history to its name. The Greg Norman Signature Course at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta is no exception. As the host of the Mexico Open, this course has catapulted to fame, and for a good reason. Designed by the legendary ex-CEO of LIV Golf, this course is a true test of skill, stretching to 7,287 yards, and featuring a par 71 layout that demands precision and strategy from even the world’s best golfers.
The course itself is a masterpiece but why do we say that? Well, you’ll know soon enough. We all know that courses play a major role in a golf tournament and Norman’s signature design elements on full display give exactly that. The paspalum grass that covers the course is not only visually stunning but also provides a unique playing experience. With its striped fairways, fine leaf texture, and blue-green color, this grass is a sight to behold. And with its ability to produce super-high green speeds, it’s no wonder this course is a favorite among pros and amateurs alike.

Located within the sprawling Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta resort, this course is just one part of a larger golfing paradise. With 46 individual holes, including the Jack Nicklaus-designed Nayar course, there’s no shortage of golfing options. Now that we have got a glimpse of the course, how about the golfers?
