The 2025 season isn’t off to a great start for Jay Monahan’s PGA Tour. The Sentry event at the Kapalua Plantation Course was criticized for being too easy, and major stars like Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler withdrew from the tournament. To make matters worse, McIlroy has just revealed his schedule for the 2025 season, and it’s not looking good for the PGA Tour. In a press conference before the 2025 Dubai Desert Classic, McIlroy announced that he’ll be playing around 22 events this year, including the Ryder Cup, which is significantly fewer than the 27 events he played in 2024.

He also mentioned that his DP World Tour schedule will remain similar to last year’s, but he’ll be cutting down on PGA Tour events in the States. This news is a blow to the PGA Tour, which welcomed McIlroy to 19 events in 2024. It’s unclear which specific events McIlroy will be skipping, but one thing is certain – his reduced schedule will be felt. Despite this, McIlroy’s fans are excited to see him in action, and his first match for 2025 has been confirmed.

Just a few weeks ago, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am made a post on Instagram confirming that Rory McIlroy was indeed committed to playing in the 2025 game, scheduled to take place from January 30 to February 2, 2025, at the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links, along with other prestigious courses. With a staggering purse of $20,000,000 on the line, this event promises to be an exciting start to McIlroy’s 2025 season.

Given his reduced schedule, McIlroy will likely be eager to make a strong statement at Pebble Beach and the AT&T Pro-Am’s unique format provides the perfect backdrop for him to do just that. A solid performance here could set the tone for the rest of his season and McIlroy will surely be looking to capitalize on this opportunity to get his year off to a flying start but will it be easy? Not so much.

Jordan Spieth is finally back in action! After a lengthy absence due to a wrist injury, the 31-year-old golfer has confirmed his participation in the upcoming AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The event will mark Spieth’s return to competitive golf after a prolonged period of recovery. The Pebble Beach account welcomed Spieth’s commitment by tweeting, “This one is a major star. Jordan Spieth has committed to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and we can’t wait to see him back in action.” Spieth will be joining an impressive field which includes Viktor Hovland, Matt Fitzpatrick, Rory McIlroy, and Patrick Cantlay, among others.
