Is Jon Rahm going to Dubai? The 30-year-old had an amazing first season at LIV Golf as he dominated the league throughout the year. He finished in the top 10 in every Saudi-based league event he was a part of in 2024. This also included two wins at LIV Golf UK & LIV Golf Chicago.

Soon after the season concluded, the Spanish swinger received another positive news from the DP World Tour. The European League’s officials confirmed that Rahm & 8 other top LIV Golf players who have paid their dues or appealed against the fines imposed by the DP World Tour will be allowed to participate in the events from 2025.

Now that Jon Rahm has been reinstated to the DP World Tour, he is ready to take on the challenges offered at the European circuit to expand his trophy cabinet. And his first goal would be the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

So what kind of competition can Jon Rahm expect at the premium event? Let’s find out.

Jon Rahm vs. European players

There is no doubt that Jon Rahm would be a favorite to win the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic. But it won’t be a walk in the park as he will go up against the winner of the 2024 edition of the tournament and world no. 3, Rory McIlroy. It’s no secret that McIlroy is particularly fond of playing in Dubai. He has found incredible success in the city including his most recent triumph in the 2024 DP World Tour Championship. The 4x major winner will be eager to retain the title and is capable enough of deflecting any threat imposed by Jon Rahm.

Rahm will also go up against fellow LIV Golf pros and Legion XIII teammate; Tyrrell Hatton. The Englishman has been on a wonderful streak in 2024 as he captured the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He is also much more familiar with the DP World Tour environment and has the advantage of experience against his LIV Golf team captain. The Spaniard will fight his way through many such challenges if he wishes to capture the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic on his debut.

The 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic will be the season-opening for the DP World Tour and is scheduled for January 16-19, 2025 at the Emirates Golf Club.
