Once a legend on the PGA Tour, Bubba Watson now finds himself facing an uncertain future. After a tough season that left him ranked 52nd in the LIV Golf standings, he’s officially in the drop zone. For many, this might signal the end of an era. But for Watson? It’s just another challenge he’s determined to overcome, “I am going to play until they kick me out,” said Watson about his probable relegation.

However, as per reports, he will most probably not be relegated and kept in the league because of business reasons. “I know some discussions need to take place and there are some business considerations. We have one of the most popular teams. Am I part of that? I think I am, and I’m committed to playing better,” said the golfer. His team’s future looks bright, but he is still in the gray water. With LIV’s 2024 season now ended, he is eyeing other tournaments.

Watson is now heading to the BNI Indonesian Masters on the Asian Tour. Confirming the same, Asian Tour posted a video on its Instagram handle featuring Watson. With the video captioned, “Hello @bubbawatson 👋 We can’t wait to see you at the BNI Indonesian Masters 🇮🇩 next week too! 😍.” The tournament is scheduled from October 31 to November 3 at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club.

Though the golfer is no stranger to competing in Asia, this will be his first time teeing off in Indonesia and he is really looking forward to it. The event offers a $2 million prize pool on the line. It’s the perfect opportunity for Watson to spark his comeback and remind everyone why he’s been a fan favorite for so long.

Watson finished below the drop line, and with LIV bosses confirming that team captains are no longer exempt from relegation, it must have been a surprising blow for the RangeGoats GC captain. Despite the uncertainty around his future in golf, Watson has found a spark of hope with his entry into the BNI Indonesian Masters.

Bubba Watson gears up for his next performance

With top competitors like John Catlin, Richard Bland, and Danny Lee ready for the tournament, one thing is certain—the competition is going to be fierce for Watson. But does that make him nervous? It doesn’t seem so. In fact, he’s excited.

“As everyone knows, I have really enjoyed playing in tournaments overseas, and I’m really excited about playing in Indonesia for the first time. I enjoy coming to Asia and soaking in the sights and sounds and also seeing the diverse mixture of players out here. The BNI Indonesian Masters plays a big part in The International Series, which provides a pathway onto the LIV Golf League. I’m a big believer in LIV Golf and I’m proud of the impact it has had on the game of golf worldwide. Watson shared enthusiastically.

We hope that the presence of Watson, along with other world-class players, will fulfill the expectations of golf fans in Indonesia”, said Okki Rushartomo, BNI Corporate Secretary.
