Buckle yourself up for a unique golf ride, as the much-anticipated Netflix Cup is finally here. The celebrity event that pairs F1 Drivers from the “Drive to Survive” and PGA Tour Pros from the “Full Swing” docuseries will tee off on November 14 this year at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas.
The public golf course, famous for being the venue of Capital One’s The Match for the past three years, is going to witness another celebrity event but possibly on a much bigger scale. Netflix, aside from hosting the match, will also stream it live on their platform. The field features some of the best from both sides of the sports world. Ahead of the event, let’s turn our eyes to the course that’s nestled like an oasis in the deserted landscape of Vegas.
What makes Wynn Golf Club so famous?

The sprawling 6,722-yard golf course sits like an anomaly in the arid landscape of Vegas. With over 8,000 trees, some of which are over 60 years old as per the official website, dotting the par-70 layout, the 18-hole course boasts of natural flora with three lakes and meandering streams adorning the greens. To make it more interesting, dramatic elevation changes were created by moving 400,000 cubic yards of soil.
The course is designed by the legendary architect Tom Fazio who, after its opening in 2005, redesigned it in 2019. This time, he teamed up with his son Logan. Fazio’s portfolio of golf courses includes the most popular names such as Shadow Creek Golf Course, and Sea Island Golf Resort where the RSM Classic will be played, the 2021 Ryder Cup venue, Whistling Straits, and the upcoming 2027 Ryder Cup venue, Adare Manor.
The Wynn Golf Club course has been home to celebrity matches like Capital One’s gala, The Match. In 2021, the greens of Wynn Club witnessed Brooks Koepka going head-to-head with Bryson DeChambeau. This year, the course hosted a 12-hole team match between Stephen Curry/Klay Thompson and Patrick Mahomes/Travis Kelce. After Capital One, streaming giant Netflix will return to the course throwing F1 drivers into the mix.
It’s been a while since I had a request for a Las Vegas golf course, but I’m always happy when one does come in.

However, the event happened courtesy of the huge success of the golf docuseries, “Full Swing”, which is set to return for the second season, and the F1 docuseries, “Drive to Survive”. This field includes top golfers pairing up with top F1 drivers in a scramble format team play.

Who is playing at the Netflix Cup?
Following the same format of The Match’s team play, the Netflix Cup will pair one F1 drive with one PGA Tour player. In the first pair, Lando Norris of McLaren Racing and Rickie Fowler will face Scuderia Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and Justin Thomas. In the second match, Williams Racing’s Alexander Albon will team up with Ryder Cup hero Max Homa and go up against Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Collin Morikawa.

Homa, who is coming on the back of a $10,761,517 victory at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, admitted he is a bit tired. How much of the dazzling drives that earned him a cult fan following at the Ryder Cup will feature here is an open question at the moment. Thomas, too, after a subpar performance at the Ryder Cup, finished fourth on the DP World Tour’s penultimate event.
