Tiger Woods has been struggling for a long time. In fact, throughout the 2024 season, he had back spasms. He appeared only five times out of which, he had to withdraw from the Genesis Invitational because of fever. Well, that was not all for his miseries, in the four others he took part in, they were Majors, and he only made it to the cut at the Masters, but then dropped down to the bottom of the leaderboard.
For the remaining three, he missed the cut in all of them. He was last seen playing at the Open Championship in July and has been on a hiatus ever since. The 82X PGA Tour Champion was set to make a comeback for his event earlier in December, but he had his sixth back surgery in ten years and needed time to recover. This weekend he returned to the PNC Championship only for Charlie Woods. Just like 2021, this time too, they missed the trophy by a close inch. However, they lost it to the Langers.
But what does it mean for him now? Will he come back?

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy created a league called the TGL, which was supposed to begin in January 2023. However, because of several setbacks, it had to be postponed. Finally, after a year, it will kick start on January 7, 2025, and Tiger Woods has confirmed his presence. He is on the Jupiter Links Golf Club Team, along with Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Tom Kim.

Tom Kim was asked about his expectations from the event, to which he explained, “I think it’s a very different dynamic, and I believe it’s great for the game. In traditional tournaments, players are spread out, with some going out in the morning and others in the afternoon, so they’re often on-site all day. But with this format, it’s more condensed—just two or three hours.”
All matches will take place at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a cutting-edge venue with a seating capacity of 1,600. This 250,000-square-foot facility boasts a 75-foot apex and a spacious plaza for pre-match activities.
The innovative golf course within the SoFi Center will incorporate advanced technology and cover an area roughly the size of a football field. Players will not only compete in the same space but perform in front of a live audience, much like in basketball or soccer.

“I think it’s going to be cool for us as players because it’s more of a team atmosphere. Golf is traditionally an individual sport, so being part of a team environment will be exciting,” said Kim.
Additionally, most tournaments are scheduled for Mondays and Tuesdays, whereas generally, they take place from Thursday to Sunday. This might be another reason it might become a little difficult for the players as well. However, they are all set to take up the challenge. What are your thoughts on TGL?
