The 2024 season was dominated by Nelly Korda, with 7 victories in the LPGA Tour. However, there was another name that surfaced in the headlines: Lydia Ko. The Kiwi golfer has won 4 events, including the 2024 Olympics, along with many close finishes to the title. Well, that was just the start of the distinguished career-ending, which Ko has hinted at. Earlier, during an interview, she shared her retirement plans with GOLF.COM. “And I think for every single player, I think that until that moment comes, you really don’t know. Like, I could say 30, or, like, 28,” she said.
Further, Ko even pointed out that she is taking it day-by-day, and that can be seen with her milestone achievement with each presence on the course. In 2025, the Olympic gold medalist started off well at the Hilton Grand Vacation with a 6th position finish, which later at the Founders Cup saw a downtrend ending at 48th place. But with the next event, the HSBC Women’s World Championship, she redeemed herself by claiming her 23rd victory.
Last season, after winning the first event, Ko went on a continuous streak of close finishes to the top spot and wins. With the same expectations for this year, she will be aiming to double the victories. However, for the upcoming participation, there is a slight change in her interest after the Singapore event, which was the second of the LPGA Tour’s Asian swing. The third and final event is scheduled at Hainan Island, China. But surprisingly, Lydia Ko has not confirmed her entry for it. Last year, she recorded T4.

But there is nothing to be disappointed about, as she will be back in action after a week’s break. Ko has confirmed her participation in back-to-back events. After the break, she will be teeing off at the Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass from March 27-30, 2025. After that, T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards is the next stop for the golfer. The event will take place from April 2- 6, 2025. Both events will offer a great golfing delight as defending champion Nelly Korda and Lydia Ko will be competing. Even a later event, i.e., the Chevron Championship, has her confirmed entry.
Well, to take note, the Kiwi golfer has been close to winning the events in 2024 but fell short. Can she overcome the mistakes of last year?

Lydia Ko’s performance at the Ford Championship 2024
The next three events, which the golfer has confirmed, will be crucial for her. After her recent win at the HSBC Women’s World Championship, she not only bagged her 23rd victory but climbed up on the career earnings list as well. She is now in second place with $36.2 million, after Annika Sorenstam, who tops with $40.37 million.
Moreover, apart from just maintaining great records, she would also not like to repeat her performance from 2024. Previously, she was placed T13 at the Ford Championship, with her rounds scoring 69-64-70-70. As compared to the defending champion Korda, Lydia Ko was 3 strokes behind after the first round. However, she did make a comeback and got into a stroke lead in the second after scoring her lowest round of the match, which was 64.
But the unfortunate performance drop happened with her last two rounds that recorded scores of 70-70. The great recovered lead, which could be the turning point, slipped away from Ko and got bigger to reclaim. The final score for her was 273, under par 15, while for Korda, it was 268, under par 20.

The leaderboard position would have been different if the last two rounds followed a similar form as the first two. Now that she has passed on with her great win in 2024. Will 2025 be a better year to erase the memories of her loss? What do you think? Share your predictions with us in the comments below.
