It was just another sunny Tuesday at Whisper Rock Golf Club—until LIV Golf dropped the hammer. A photo of Jon Rahm, fresh off a T14 finish at Augusta National, appeared on Instagram with a casual caption: “Just a normal midweek round for @jonrahm around Whisper Rock Golf Club 😂”
Except this wasn’t just any round. Rahm was spotted in full grind mode, carding scores that most of us would dream of on our best day. And if there’s one thing this photo confirmed, it’s that Jon Rahm is already locked in.
While the 2025 Masters didn’t end with a second Green Jacket, Rahm’s game looked sharp, especially after a tough opening round. His bounce-back 70 and 69 over the weekend proved he’s still got that fight. And judging by what LIV just teased, it’s fair to ask: When will we see him back in the arena?

Well, wonder no more. After a week off to reset, Jon Rahm is headed to Mexico!
From April 25-27, Rahm will be back in action at Club de Golf Chapultepec, a venue steeped in over 100 years of history. Once home to WGC greatness and now a regular stop on the LIV Golf calendar, the course has seen champions like Ben Crenshaw and Craig Byman grace its fairways. And now, it’s Rahm’s turn to chase glory in its shadows.

LIV Golf Mexico marks the sixth event of the 2025 season—and for Rahm, it’s another chance to build on what’s already been a rock-solid campaign. The Spanish star has finished inside the top 10 in every LIV event this year, including a T2 at Riyadh, T5 in Singapore, and T6 in Hong Kong, showcasing elite-level consistency across continents. Even his “off week” in Miami saw him land a T9 against the tour’s top dogs.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Jon Rahm's move to LIV Golf a career-defining decision or a step into obscurity?
Have an interesting take?
Yet, despite these finishes, Rahm’s 2025 story feels … quieter than expected.

From Augusta to obscurity? The Rahm dilemma in golf’s split era
Let’s not forget, just a year ago, Jon Rahm was the reigning Masters Champion, Ryder Cup hero, and World No. 3. His blockbuster move to LIV in December 2023 sent shockwaves through the sport. It wasn’t just the paycheck, it was the statement. LIV didn’t just get a star. They got the star. Once a permanent fixture in the top five, Rahm has now plummeted to 85th.
Outside the LIV ecosystem, his presence feels blurred. There are no weekly PGA Tour pressers, no FedEx Cup chatter, no OWGR buzz. He’s playing some of the best golf on the planet, but it’s happening in a parallel universe—one with shotgun starts, no cuts, and a team called Legion XIII that’s still figuring out its identity.

In his Masters’ press conference, Rahm couldn’t help but poke fun at the absurdity of it all. “Am I out of the Top 100 yet?” he grinned. “Couple more weeks and I’ll be gone.” Though he didn’t claim a specific position he believes he should occupy, he made it clear: “I’d undoubtedly consider myself a top-10 player.” And why not? He’s finished inside the top 10 in every LIV event, won the Individual Championship, and remains the beating heart of Legion XIII. But since LIV remains shut out of OWGR points, Rahm’s resume doesn’t move the needle. With only the Majors and select DP World Tour starts to earn points, it’s a lopsided equation—and one that the two-time Major winner seems ready to stop caring about altogether.
Still, when the majors roll around, Rahm remains very much in the conversation. His game is too strong, his mindset too sharp. And with all four scores now counting for teams in LIV’s 2025 format, Rahm’s influence on both the individual and team leaderboards is even more crucial.
