Nearly 15 years ago, Tiger Woods won his fourth and final PGA Championship at the Southern Hills. It was at this venue that gave Woods a memorable John Daly story to share with the fans.
Woods and Daly have been good friends off the field ever since they’ve turned professional. Both stars keep sharing stories of each other very often.
Woods shares a great John Daly story
The 2007 PGA Championship may be remembered as Tiger Woods’ 13th Major title. However, the high temperature at the golf course in Tulsa was a challenge for all the golfers to stay hydrated. With most golfers drinking water to stay cool-headed, Daly chose an alternative drink of his choice to beat the heat.
During the 2022 PGA Championship, where Woods and Daly both participated in the major, Woods was asked about his win 15 years ago and what he recalls from it. Tiger Woods said, “I remember playing behind JD [John Daly] the first day, which was awesome. It was, what, 109 [degrees] I think that first day? And I asked JD how many waters he drank out there, he said, ‘No, I had 13 Diet Cokes.”

John Daly’s insane diet

John Daly’s diet is a very commonly talked about topic in the world of golf. Moreover, he likes sharing more and more details about his diet with each interview he does.
Daly once revealed his diet during a single round of the PGA Championship. He smoked 21 cigarettes, drank 12 Diet Cokes and also had six packs of peanut M&Ms. His love for Diet Coke could also be visible in his ESPN 30 for 30 documentary, “Hit it Hard”, where when asked if he wants water, Daly responds by saying, “I don’t need water, I’ve got plenty of ice in my Diet Cokes.”
