As the son of the GOAT, one would think that Charlie Woods has everything. Although his parents can obviously provide whatever he needs, Tiger Woods has set some limitations for his son.

The 2021 PNC Championship was a huge success as a tournament. The Daly duo won the championship in record fashion, and Tiger and Charlie Woods played together as a team and finished second. While most fans were eager to watch Tiger after a long hiatus, the chemistry between the father-son duo remains the main reason everyone is still talking about the event.

Since finding out the talent Charlie has when it comes to golf, we cannot help but recall one of the interviews where Tiger said how he made a rule for Charlie to not take some of his favorite putters.

Tiger Woods has set a strict boundary for his son

One would think that Tiger Woods would let his son Charlie use any golf equipment he wants, but that’s not the case as he has set some strict boundaries.

As a golfer, it is normal to prefer playing with the best pieces of equipment that are available. But Tiger had made sure that two of the putters from his collection were off-limits for Charlie – the Scotty Cameron Newport TeI3 (from 1997 Masters win), and the Newport 2 GSS, with which Woods has won 14-major titles in golf.

Here’s what Tiger Woods said in 2016: “Charlie knows there are two putters he can’t touch. There’s the black one I won with the Teryllium insert. I won the Masters in ’97 with it and this Scotty Cameron. They sit next to each other. Touch any other putter, do anything you want with any other putter. But these putters are off-limits.”

It is not a secret that Tiger Woods uses Scotty Cameron putters for all of his major competitions; the brand makes customized putters for the golf legend. So, it was understandable why Tiger didn’t want his son to practice with that.

A Scotty Cameron backup putter, custom made for Woods, was once sold for more than $350,000 in an auction.

Along with the GOAT, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, and Jordan Spieth are some of the many others who use their putters.
